I've bought this saffron several times in the past and it was great. This time I got a larger tin. Imagine my surprise when I opened it and there was an offensive chemical smell instead of the usual saffron scent. I did the water test of one of the suspected threads and indeed, the dye washed out of the thread. Unfortunately I had not opened it immediately and the return window has closed. I will not be buying this brand again.

Has great flavor and wasn't too much of a splurge.

I have purchased saffron from Whole Foods, and from Costco, retail price is generally very high so I am pleased to have found saffron for such a reasonable price online. One of my favorite Afghan dishes calls for saffron to be steeped in milk. Mazaeus Saffron was golden in color, and very fragrant. The flavor shined through in that exceptional floral aroma that only authentic saffron can impart on a dish.

A bit mild in taste but an awesome deal, so I won't complain

It really goes well with the tea or milk.

Fresh and well packaged. Very tasty. Used in risotto and Middle Eastern food so far. I store the container in a small jar with a lid to keep dry as I live in a very humid and wet environment! I highly recommend.
