If you are new to rc helicopters or thinking of starting, buy this book . It provides a comprehensive explanation of the size and type options and the pros and cons of each. I would have emphasized the benefits of a quality flight simulator as a first step but otherwise it's an excellent book.

Just what I was looking for

First of all, I have to say that I bough this book from reading the reviews in Amazon. Although it is not so expensive, it is not so worth the money either. I admit that the book contains much information on RC helicopters, but there are also a number of serious issues. One thing I have noticed is the fact that the book has no figure at all. How the author write a book involving so many mechanical and electric devices without even giving a single figure. All free articles on the internet on the other hand contain so many also beautiful figures and are much better that this book. If am so new to RC helicopters, how can I imagine what the servos or receivers look like? Also, the words "airfoil", "ESC", "flybar" ect are not common to people who are not involving in the hobby. The author describes everything in detail in words like a novel. It is absolutely much better to show some figures, and you don't need to repeatedly say the same thing all the time. I can't imagine how the author describe setting up the swash plate in word. Does he think that many people new to the hobby have never even seen the transmitter. In addition, I found a lot of typos. Some of them are not just misspelling but the wrong words in the wrong places. If the readers are not familiar with the hobby, they will never understand. An example of this is in the description of the aileron and cyclic controls in various modes of the transmitter. Finally, the book is like a potocopy of an original book. I am sure that this is not the case with the book from Amazon, but the quality of paper and ink including the color on the font cover make me think this way. So, with all of these issues, I rate it for one star.

I'm realising this hobby is the company of masters and slaves. It possible that one may need to be acquainted, or conditioned.

If the contents were not as good as it is, I would have given it 3 stars instead of 4.The author describes it as as a reference book, yet it does not have table of contents (ToC) or index.
