JM1-884 Floor Lamp, Black

At my house we do not have any lighting on our ceiling in the living room, except for what is above the dining room, so lamps are our main source. So when our last lamp broke, we needed a replacement quickly, but I was on a BUDGET.I bought two of these lamps for both sides of our couches. I am very pleased with how easy it was to assemble. I hate reading directions, but my husband is anal about that. By the time he finished reading the instructions, I had almost the whole light assembled, and he did the final touches.The best thing is that the base is heavy. This has always been a concern since we have two little ones and two big dogs running around the house.I was thrilled when I discovered that it can actually take a 150W lightbulb at the top; it is advertised as 100W. I love lots of light. We are able to use the energy efficient lightbulb, since the lightbulb goes in a upward direction. My other light could not do that because the lightbulbs laid sideways. However, the energy lightbulb is so big that is does stick slightly above the shade.I love how the reading lamp part is adustable; my other lamp did not offer that feature either.This light goes great with our chocolate brown couch and makes our living room look a little more fancy. Even my hisband was impressed and he doesn't usually care about those kinds of things.This is a great buy for the price. I have seen many lights closer to the 80 dollar range at Lamps Plus and this lamp is comparable to those.Like others, I do wish that the light switch was lower, but this is something I can live with.The only problem I had was with the second lamp. There was a manufacturing defect (the 2nd pole's screw in section was slightly tilted) and I couldn't get the lamp together. Luckily I had not unpacked all the parts and was able to get it back in the box to be returned, but Amazon's return policy was very easy. They will be sending me a replacement light this week. I can't wait to see how lit up the living room will be after it is up!

I was looking for a good middle range priced lamp to supplement what I already had in my living room. I wanted to lamp with at least two different light sources and would really have liked one that worked with three-way bulb. Though this lamp didn’t have the three-way bulb option available it did have the two light sources, plus a very reasonable price, that made it so attractive to me. The other lamp I have has a similar style with one light fixture at top and the second usable as a reading lamp.Let me start what I hope is enough detail to help others make the decision by saying that the overall quality of lamp appears to be fairly high. It is a heavy lamp with most of the weight in the base. This gives it a good foundation and makes it very difficult to tip over, something good when you have dogs and grandchildren running to the house. The pole raises the light sources high enough that the side lamp can be easily used for reading the top lamp give sufficient illumination to light a full quarter of the room. The top light source can carry up to 150 W, but I find 75 W to be ample for my use. I have a 40 W bulb in the reading lamp and this seems to work very well. Most importantly, I can use this lamp along with my original lamp to help light the room without throwing it in a harsh light and becomes an excellent place to visit with my sons or friends.Another very positive thing about this lamp is the design and overall work quality. I am very happy with the color of the shades, which are nice off-white color, and how they fit on the lamp. In addition the metal ornamental system used to hold the glassware in place adds a lot to the overall beauty of the land. This is a lamp they can easily fit in almost any home and add to the designer decorating scheme.I would easily recommend this lamp for anyone for something to fit near a couch, loveseat or a reclining chair. The lighting options, a single on the top, a single on for reading, or both on it once, gives you lot of options for use in almost any room. Price point is excellent for the quality received, and if damaged I would deftly consider buying the same lamp again.
