Review: An Essential Guide for Raising a Happy and Well-Behaved Dog! - I recently finished reading Zak George's Dog Training Revolution, and it has been incredibly helpful in raising my new puppy, Dream. This book is a fantastic resource for both new and experienced dog owners, offering practical advice and compassionate training techniques. Zak George’s approach to dog training is rooted in positive reinforcement, which I really appreciate. The book emphasizes building a loving and trusting relationship with your pet, rather than using harsh methods. This philosophy resonates with me, and it’s been wonderful to see how effective it is with my dog. The tips and techniques are easy to understand and implement, making the training process enjoyable for both me and Dream. The book covers everything from basic commands and house training to more advanced behaviors and dealing with common issues like barking and chewing. What I love most is how Zak breaks down each topic into manageable steps. It feels like having a personal dog trainer guiding me through each stage of my puppy’s development. Another great aspect of this book is the emphasis on understanding your dog’s needs and communication. Zak provides insights into canine behavior that have helped me better interpret Dream’s actions and respond appropriately. It’s made a huge difference in how we interact and bond. Overall, Zak George's Dog Training Revolution is a comprehensive and compassionate guide to raising a well-behaved and happy dog. Whether you’re a first-time dog owner or looking to refine your training techniques, this book is an invaluable resource. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to build a loving and effective training relationship with their pet. Review: Best dog training book I've seen - Dogs have a lot to teach us about unconditional love, play, learning to enjoy the small things in life, and not holding grudges. We also have a lot of things to teach our pet, but how can we learn to effectively communicate and train our pup without losing patience? Each dog learns a little differently, but in this book Zak George provides a not only humane way to train, but a way that succeeds. He gives detailed, easy step-by-step training techniques that not only train the dog, but the human as well. The layout is well done and easy to follow and easy to navigate when you're wanting to work on specific skills. The Kindle edition almost seems a little better, since it has the video links right in the book, but links are easy to find even with physical edition. Outcome So Far: I started watching his Youtube videos when I got two puppies and this book goes into a little more detail on his topics plus a few additional ones. Since adopting his training tips from this book as well as the videos, I've seen leaps and bounds in communication with my two dogs. Admittedly, mine came kennel trained, are obsessed with grooming (teeth brushing, fur brushing), loving bath time, ignore cars, and haven't learned all the tricks he teaches yet (since we haven't gotten to all of them) so I can't attest to all the techniques. The ones I've tried, however, have done wonders. They sit, they stay consistently (even from far distances and with distractions), His technique for getting them to speak was the only one that worked (I tried about 6 or 7 others out there before I found his). His leash training technique got my dogs walking without pulling in less than 2 weeks and they're 5 months old. Until I read his section on fetch and teaching a dog how to play Frisbee, I couldn't get my puppies to play fetch. They no longer puppy bite, steal, and almost have no jumping down. They're doing a mostly consistent fetch and it's only been a few weeks. Based on other training techniques I've looked at, they're about where most people expect a 9 months to 1 year old dog to be at. They're by no means all the way trained, but, as mentioned before, I haven't got all the way through the book yet. The basic skills, however, are pretty close to meeting expectations and they perform them better than some of my neighbor's dogs. I'm excited to see where they end up after they've graduated from learning all the tricks in this book I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with a puppy or adult dog who needs help learning the ropes.

A wonderful and helpful book
Zak's book is superb. I made the mistake of getting my dog before getting the book, so when it arrived I was a bit stressed about some of my dog's behaviors already (pulling on leash and biting mainly). However, Zak's book helped me start my dog, Onion, on her road to being the perfect pup quickly. I was easily able to jump to the parts of the book I needed, and the accompanying YouTube videos were also helpful. Once I started training her using Zak's methods, Onion's behavior started to improve. I perused other sections of the book, and I'm glad I did. The sections on basic care and training other behaviors are very helpful for my future plans. The section on tricks is one of my favorite parts. Zak's explanations are clear and concise and make trick training easy. I've taught my dog every trick in the book but the back stall and speak. One problem I have with the book and the accompanying videos is that the link for the video on "Nipping" opens a video on loose leash training. I highly recommend this book to any current or future dog owner.

Zak George For The Win!
I love Zak George. I discovered him on YouTube several years ago when we took a dog off the street that was aggressive. I've trained many dogs, but this was my first experience with aggression. Although he doesn't get detailed about how to work through those issues (which honestly can't be simply answered in a video or book), his methods are fantastic. There has been some nasty comments about him in the dog training world with claims that his methods reinforce bad behavior. However, people don't seem to understand that Zak George is giving you a sold starting point to resolve an issue. From there, it is up to you, as the owner, to continue the work and find out what works for your dog and situation. Once you learn enough about Zak's way of approaching problems, you can apply it to anything you encounter with your dog. Many of the subjects in this book are very basic. However, just because they are basic to me, doesn't mean they are to everyone. No matter how much training experience you have, there will be something useful for you in this book.

Excellent! Highly recommend!
I was first introduced to Zak George through his many YouTube videos on puppy/dog training and bought the book to get more detailed information. He makes teaching your puppy all the basics look really easy in his videos and the book does provide the details necessary to fully understand his concepts. I really like the praise correct behavior method of training as opposed the old school punishing incorrect behavior approach. In preparation for a new pup to arrive I have read many (7 as of this writing) books regarding proper puppy training and so far this is the best. I have had many dogs through the years and want to get it "right" this time and am convinced that Zak's approach will achieve the desired outcome. He debunks the the commonly held belief that you need to ensure you are dominant and emulate wolf pack behaviors. He points out that dogs have been raised by humans for thousands of years to do work and provide companionship. Today, most dogs would rather spend time with humans than other dogs and all we need to do is learn to properly communicate and reward our desired behaviors and our dogs will do all they can to please us. Zak provides detailed descriptions of how to properly train the basics and even some popular tricks. And, his free videos provide the opportunity to actually see him using these techniques and how effective they can be. I'm really looking forward to my new pup's arrival and employing Zak's techniques to help him be the best dog ever!

If there were a rating higher than 5 star, I would be giving it! Amazing!
This book was so well written and well organized, it was an amazing difference between the other dog training books I've read through. He and his coauthor do such a great job of making sure the information is well presented and effectively explained throughout the book. There was never a point when I was confused or had to re-read a part because I didn't understand what they were talking about. It is great for reading from cover to cover in a matter of hours (like I did) or taking it a bit slower and reading it in chucks at different times. The book also does a great job of explaining and reasoning why a positive dog training method makes all the difference in the dog's training. This is definitely a must have for all dog trainers, dog owners, and average joe's that just want to learn a bit more on what dog training is all about. His corresponding YouTube videos with certain tasks helped to keep me engaged. I will no doubt fly through his second book. I highly recommend this book!

Very thorough training book
As a dog owner for years and a shelter Volunteer I found Zak Georges book very comprehensive and helpful. It is as claimed "the complete guide to raising a perfect pet with love." Having read Cesar Milan books where there is emphasis on the human being an alpha male or pack leader with an emphasis on dominance, Zak George training focuses on being a loving parent to your dog using positive reinforcement at all times. Everything you would need to know about the choice of pet, medical care, training to correct common problems as well as answers to common questions following each chapter is included as well as reference to the authors you tube channel which will reinforce lessons learned. Whether you are about to become a pet owner, a new owner or had a dog for years you will increase your knowledge and ultimately give your pet a loving and safer existence by following this useful and informative book. Recommended .

Best dog training book
thanks Zak! this is by far the best dog training book. I already knew all the basics, but I wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly as I am adopting a dog soon. it covers everything, including how to find a dog to buy/adopt in the beginning! in the end it covers how to solve unwanted behaviours that have already developed. it's also been useful with determining what I need to buy for my new dog. I like how he supports modern dog training techniques and how many of his videos correspond with the chapters. it really helps me understand concepts. I strongly recommend this book, it's by far the best as many other's only teach about training puppies, but Zak takes it many steps further in such a small book (yet somehow covering everything). I also know I can trust these techniques to be reliable through his videos. again, THANK YOU Zak!

Friendly approach
I had previously read a book from Cesar Millan which I really liked, but it made me thinking that dogs should always be submissive to anything I wanted them to do. Zak’s book has a very friendly approach that I believe can create a bond between the dog and their owner, and it’s what I’ll be following from now on. My dog is 9mo old, I’m with him for 3 weeks now and he already does lots of things at home and in low distraction environments (sit, down, stand, take a bow, fetch, take it, leave it). I’m starting frisbee, but still getting their interest on it. I also recommend sympawtico training, they have great resources.

Fun, informative and easy to follow
Had this only a day and I'm half way through. I bought this book after watching Zak's YouTube videos. We haven't got our puppy yet but we are hoping to have one in a couple of months time. This book is excellent. It is clear, well written and well presented. Zak teaches positive reinforcement to train your dog by making it fun for them to "obey" your commands. I have to say it's the most refreshing approach I have come across. Each and every last detail is covered from selection, to food, to crate training, to even naming your dog! It is extremely thorough but Zak still makes it exciting. Whilst he talks about the practicalities of making this commitment he also offers advice for all types of owners including those who aren't able to dedicate all day every day to your dog. Highly recommend!

Interesante
