Folded. The fold creases did not interfere with my copying onto wood.

does this product transfer onto canvas?

I did not try it on canvas, only on hard surfaces. I would imagine that it will work on the stretched canvas

Can this be used on art paper? For watercolor patterns?

I should think so. I only have used it to transfer designs to wood ultimately to be decorated with wood burning tools, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for your purpose.
