How do I get the mirror to stabilize when I tilt it up or down? It seems to want to go back to the original position.

I did not have a problem with it doing this. Are the screws on the sides of the mirror tight?

It would be helpful but not needed. You can can start the screw with a punch and hammer.

The ad states the mirror is made from metal I want to know what type. My fear is it will rust over time.

Purchased this mirror and it started to rust the first year. Pretty much rusted through three years later. The mirror definitely is NOT made from rust proof stainless steel. Cheap to replace every few years.
