al-Ghazzali Alchemy of Happiness 2 Vol. set (Great Books of the Islamic World) Paperback – January 1, 2007

This is probably the best summary of the Ihya out there, and Crook does an excellent job at translating it from Persian into English. There is quite a large introduction into this book to mostly explain how the book is translated, such as the "Nufs" being translated to carnal appetite, etc. Furthermore, the introduction explains some of the main themes and styles that Ghazali uses in his writing. This book, despite being like a thousand years old, is extremely relevant to our modern time. I guess human nature doesn't change that much after all. In fact, I think this book is needed in our modern times now than ever.

excellent book and translation. only thing I do not like that translator give headline by subdividing each chapter to subchapters based on his evaluation although original book does not have it as far as I know (please correct me if I am wrong). this giving a lot of distraction.

I paid $44 for this used set (which is in good condition) but to my disappointment I only received volume 1 and 2 was missing. Should I be expecting it on the way? I see from the reviews there were multiple complaints about this. Can someone assist? This is unacceptable.

I love this book was really into it, until someone stole it or rather borrowed it without my permission oh well. I will try to save up and buy it again, but don't think I'll have the money any time soon. lol But, definitely buy it if you have the money.

Must read. Major intellectual piece written by one of the greatest thinkers in the history.

I was really excited to receive the full collection of Alchemy of Happiness by Imam Ghazali, but unfortunately I only received Volume 1. I’m not sure who to reach out to in regards to this.
