RubiesWomen's Adult Supergirl Costume

It was superhero day at work for a kids fundraiser, I wanted to be Supergirl as I love the tv series. I followed the advice from other reviews and sized down. It fit me perfect! It’s a little loose in the torso area but super duper flattering and if you’re blessed with a big bust it fits better. I bought a small and I’m usually a true size medium at 5’6” and 145lbs. The material is great for a costume, not sweat wicking though, so it gets hot if it’s warm outside. The top is like a velvety material and I got compliments all day saying I looked like Kara Danvers (Supergirl). The only bummer was that the shoe covers don’t really cover shoes, so I tucked in the bottom half with a pair of vans. And if you have big calves (like me) it’s a tight squeeze, but it was a good thing so I didn’t have to worry about them falling off my leg! Highly recommend.

Wow! This was an amazing costume. First, let me say I am a bit over 6'1" and about 190lb so this costume was the perfect length in the arms and skirt; however, I am not blessed with a bust so it was entirely too big there - but a few little sowing spots and I was able to keep it from drooping too much. Everyone loved this costume! I got a lot of compliments on it, even to this day!For people thinking of buying this, it is truly a plus size costume - but I needed the sizing because of my height and it delivered on that front. The boot toppers were great but they tended to fall a lot. I wore socks underneath so they didn't come completely down but I tugged on them a lot to keep them up. Also, I wear a women's and men's 12 so they didn't even cover half my foot but it was beside the point because people never look down at your feet, especially since I was behind a counter working at a Subway. It did not get too hot despite being a velvety like texture and long sleeves. I am generally cold blooded but working in a Subway you can sweat and I didn't feel too uncomfortable or hot in this, which is a blessing! I did run into some trouble when bending over - the skirt comes up a lot so I had to bend at the waist when getting something from the ground level, no big deal just a bit flustering.All in all, I would still give this a 5/5 stars because I ordered a plus size costume knowing I would have to alter it slightly because of my frame. The belt was great because I just tied it behind my back and it cinched the costume nicely (bonus, the cape hides that!!). This is the best costume for the money as well, it is a bargain compared to what I would have spent on a costume in my size!! Just know, you will truly feel like Supergirl in this! I live in Canada and I ordered off the USA Amazon.com site. I ordered it on Thursday October 25, 2012 in the evening. It got to my house on Monday, October 29, 2012 even though I chose the slowest and cheapest shipping. Well done Amazon!! I'm very pleased about that. I ordered it thinking it would arrive too late and was going to use it for next year.I have been looking for a Supergirl costume that doesn't show the stomach. The only one I can get in my city in Canada is the two piece Supergirl costume that bares your stomach, which isn't really my style. When I saw this one in a full dress, I had to jump on it! I am not a consistent size in Rubies costumes. I fit an XS for Wonder Woman perfectly, but the XS Batgirl costume was too big. I decided to try the XS anyways because if it was too big I could always take it in, and since other reviewers said to get a size smaller I figured it likely wouldn't be too small. Well it pretty much fits perfectly, a tiny bit loose in the waist but tightening the belt hides that. The belt is extremely large, so you do have to adjust the velcro with some quick sewing.The quality of the costume is very good. The blue is a velveteen material and the cape, skirt, and boot covers are the typical shiny Halloween costume material. It is comparable to a $60 to $70 + tax costume here in Canada (that's how much the 2 piece Supergirl costume here is, and it is the same company and materials). As other reviewers have said, the skirt is short in the back, it just covers my butt cheeks. I think this is because the front goes down in a V, so the front looks longer. I will just have to wear shorts under neath or black tights. People are correct in saying that the boot covers are tiny. They are really tight, and I would say I have average calves. The bottom of the boot covers are also too small to actually pull over whatever shoes/boots you are wearing, so I am not sure what to do about that. Maybe buy red shoes? I might buy those boots other reviewers have been talking about. To compare, my Wonder Woman boot covers (also made by Rubies) were large enough to pull over regular boots that I wore.So in the end, I took off 1 star because of the strange fitting boot covers and the large belt. But otherwise it is a very good quality costume, especially for what you are paying for.To help with size and fit, I am 5'6", 125 lbs with a thin muscular/toned build and I normally fit a dress size 0-2. People often estimate me at 110lbs by the way I look. The XS was only a little bit loose in the waist.
