Discovery Puzzles (Highlights™ Hidden Pictures®) Paperback – October 1, 2013

I am middle aged and remember doing these Highlights Hidden Pictures as a child in the doctor’s office. When my kids were young, we enjoyed doing them together when I took them to their doctor appointments. I came across this book on Amazon and actually ordered it for myself. This book consists of previously published puzzles, with some pages being more difficult than others. Note that although the page borders are colored, the puzzles are black and white. If you cannot find all the items, the answers are in the back of the book. Fun way to keep mind engaged instead of the usual electronics.

I was first introduced to Highlights magazine as a child over 50 years ago in my dentist's waiting room. I always loved the hidden pictures pages. The saying "often imitated, never duplicated" could apply here. There are a lot of children's activity books on the market that include hidden pictures, but I've not found any that come close to the quality of Highlights. I purchased some of these "wannabes" for a road trip with my grandchildren, but when I looked through them, I was quite disappointed. I was delighted to find that Highlights publishes books of nothing but their hidden pictures. This is the first one I've gotten "just for me." It offers mind activity as well as relaxation, and a welcome break from the noise and "flash" of electronic media. I will be purchasing more!

I bought this for my mom and the day that it arrived, she was like a kid in a candy store. She has been working in the book nonstop since the day it arrived in the mail. I'm now sitting here looking for more books like this, that will truly pique her interest. I love to see the smile on her face when she works on these puzzles.

Great puzzles...even for myself. Grandchildren LOVE them - age 4 - 7. Sometimes you can not find all the pictures...put if we/you put it down and go back to the puzzle later, WA LA... we found it! Great family fun....gets the children away from the TV and viedo games....and cuddle time with parents, grandparents, and family or just friends....

I had surgery on my left foot and am not allowed to put pressure at all on it. I needed something to take my mind away from this necessary healing process. This is fun...I look for the objects and then color the page at the end of my search. Pictures more interesting than some of the books solely for coloring to "rest your mind". If there is an object hard to find, don't turn to the end for the answer-start coloring the page and you will find it.

I use the HIDDEN PICTURES (actually, I edit them a lot) in working with autistic kids. We talk about them and usually I try tomodify them to be cartoonish - with JOKE LINES. And we also COLOR THEM. This particular title is not my favorite from theseries, but it was still very useful - and clearly better than nearly all of the competing products.

My grandmother loves these books. They are so fun for her too do. It keeps her busy. So fun.

I bought this book for my 5 (nearly 6) year old son for Christmas. It's about seven months later and he still enjoys it just as much as when he first got it. He loves doing the puzzles by himself or with mom and dad and being the one to find the most hidden objects. It's also perfect for car rides or church.
