Excellent quality
These slippers are very well made and comfortable. The sole is supportive, not squishy soft. I like that they keep my feet warm without them becoming sweaty and overheated. The wool seems to be boiled wool. It is somewhat scratchy but not uncomfortable for me. Keeping my feet the right temperature is worth the trade off for me.Re size: I typically wear an 8 or 8.5, depending on the shoe. I ordered the 8 (European 39) and the next size up. I kept the smaller size because they are roomy and long enough to get in and out of easily, without bending down. These work for me. For perspective, I have average sized feet, not wide, not narrow, no edema or swelling. Hope that helps someone else who might be on the fence about ordering these.

The long and thorough review, read this first!
Let me first say to those who hate reading long reviews (TL;DR): These are worth the price, you will throw away your old slippers after buying these, they keep you warm but not sweaty, they take a day or two to break in and are then comfy forever. Now, for the long version:I was tired of my old $20 slippers because they were too roomy, caused me to sweat, and thus started to smell bad after a few months. Those synthetic fur lined slippers seem comfy, but they are just a bacteria trap. And the fur gets matted down to the point where it may as well have been lined with dreadlocked boar fur. After researching for a couple days, I found many people pointing me to these Haflinger slippers. I eventually bought them once I convinced myself that paying more for quality is mostly worth it, even for slippers.Man, am I glad I did. I can honestly say that I have been smiling and telling friends and family about these since I got them.Comfort:They hug your feet like a big thick sock, more so right out of the box. As mentioned before, that snug fit settles down into a more comfortable level after wearing for an hour or two, and just gets better over time as it gets used to your foot shape/size.Warmth:Not too hot like the other brands. I feel like they keep you a few degrees above neutral, so you know your feet are warm, but don't have to think much about it or take them off every few minutes to breathe and cool off.Material:Boiled wool is comfortable in a different way. Like, instead of being super fluffy and soft, it feels like it just belongs on your feet. Sort of reminds me of walking on a new thick, luxurious carpet.Sole:The rubber sole is nice and pliable, so it isn't very noisy when on hard floors, and you don't have to switch shoes when going to get the mail or driving your kids to school in your pajamas!Sizing:First off, I personally appreciate finding these in my size. I am 6 foot 5, 275lb, and a size 16, so I tend to find that the best option for each type of clothing is not usually available for me. But Haflinger came along and made me a happy man. Secondly, I think the sizing is pretty accurate, but depending on your arch and foot width, you may need to go up a size.Pricing:Clearly, these cost more than what the average person thinks slippers are worth. ~$75 to $90+ may sound like a lot. Then again, my everyday shoes are $160 plus $200 orthotics, so why shouldn't I value my nighttime comfort just as much as my daytime comfort? Also, it is easy to get caught up in just going by high star reviews, but realize that just because some other slipper has thousands of 4 star reviews doesn't mean that those people didn't have to keep buying them way more often or jumping around to other cheap brands. Having worn these now, I think they are fully worth the price.Well, I think that is long enough. After a year, I will try to come back with an update. But I have a feeling I will still be happy with these slippers.

The best slipper ever
Actually I was going to return these slippers as they seemed very loose on my foot. Ordered a size smaller and when they got here, they were really a bit too short. The width is wider than I had thought. But I decided that the larger size really felt better and I decided to keep them. Today I wore them to Costco. Yes. They are wonderfully comfortable and my feet which are suffering from Neuropathy, fell in love with the wonderful arch support and complete insole designed for a human foot. Have had many Halflinger shoes over the years and the sizing seems to have changed. A 38 in the past was an 8/8.5. But in the slippers at least the 39 is more like an 8/8.5. I have a low arch so the arch in these slippers are perfect. I love love love them. You will too. If you have painful Plantar Fasciitis or arthritis or neuropathy your feet will be happy. They encourage low arches to raise up to their full potential.

The best, Jerry. The best.
After reading an exhaustive review of many different "house shoes", I heard the Halfinger AT was the one that overcame all the problems I'd experienced with cheap, discount, or gifted slippers in my past - which is a decent amount as a 38 yr old man.The slippers I've experienced usually start falling apart or wearing heavily within a year, sometimes leave scuffs on linoleum, make your feet really hot & sweaty even if the room is chilly, get super stinky, matted footbed loses shape, etcNot the Halfingers. After TWO years of frequent daily use (and one hand washing), I'm happy to say my house shoes look brand new, except for the slight fraying at the reinforced back where I slide my foot past 20 times a day - I can live with that. They don't scuff my floors. The rubber base looks new, the stitching is strong and I've stood in light rain, talking to the neighbor for a few minutes no problem. All wool top = pretty good water resistance. The wool also surrounds your foot, and the type they've used feels wonderful, gets softer over time, and mine never lost their shape. The one cool water hand wash I gave them after about a year made them even smell new, and returned them to their "fresh out the box" slightly tight feel. As a matter of fact, I almost returned these thinking they were too tight, but after two weeks they relaxed and have felt like a perfect foot glove ever since. I'd bet the folks who got these and somehow wore a hole in the top with their big toe got a pair that didn't feel snug, then relaxed and got too big!So yeah, they don't get stinky at all (if yours do you need to shower more often), the insole stayed full and didn't flatten much, and I've gotten used to the prominent arch support which most people will love, but I had to accept as I'm used to Vans, boots, and barefoot-sole type shoes. In short, I love these. As a bonus, the Navy blue ones aren't totally ugly! They were almost $100 but I'll do it again in a heartbeat!
