Works as it should

I bought it to adapt for a dust collector filter to replace bags. Works great.

This works just fine on a harbor freight dust collector. I made a plenum box and mounted that to the exhaust port and attach this to the bottom with a gamma lid. When it's time to clean, spin it off and take it outside to blow out.

Has a solid metal plate at one end and a sturdy ring at the other, overall pretty tough.I bought it to couple with a 12” ducted fan and exhaust hose system for the shop. I tested it on the floor while sweeping and it kept that dust under control. Next is to try it for welding fumes & smoke.

If you’re looking to upgrade your woodworking dust collector filter and trying not to spend $500, I think this is the best option.I just put this on yesterday and haven’t used it much so I can’t speak to cleaning the filter or how long it’ll last, but the initial performance is outstanding.I replaced the fuzzy top bag 5m filter on my 2 hp dust collector. The first time I turned it on with canister filter I was actually concerned with what I saw.From the first time I used the dust collector with the fuzzy bag on top / plastic bag on bottom, I have been accustomed to watching the bags balloon out to full form and be rather taught.But when I turned the vacuum on with the canister filter, the plastic bag at the bottom did not balloon out - at all. I was worried that something was terribly wrong, but after observing it and feeling the strong suction at the end of the hose, it occurred to me that the filter is allowing so much air to flow that there was very little pressure inside the collectior.Anyway, I rarely do reviews but if someone comes along looking to use this on a dust collector, I think you should go forward without hesitation.I’ll make a point to come back with updates for any unpleasantries I encounter.

Used to make a filter for my 2HP Harbor Freight dust collector. Worked great. Had some minor dings and dents in the box. Top panel appears to have been damaged but didn’t affect my use of the item.Really happy with the improved dust collection and that I now don’t spew fine dust throughout my garage like I did with the canvas bag that came with the dust collector.

My dust collection system is a Harbor Freight/DIY upgraded setup and for me this filter worked great. I cannot see any dust escaping even when looked at up close in the light.I am not using anything from the HF dust collector except the blower motor. I cut a hole in the closed end of the filter for a 5 inch metal collar. Then I got a screw on lid for a Homer Bucket, cut out the center and screwed it to the open end of the filter. Silicone caulked it all tight and now I have a bucket that screws off the bottom with ease.

Not only did installation of the Donaldson P181099 air filter to my dust collection system improve my shop's air quality, it also gave about a 50 percent increase to suction at my table saw, planer and lathe. My dust collection system is built around an old Jet 1.5 horsepower motor and impeller with a well-functioning cyclone fabricated from a large flower pot and garbage bin. The cloth bag is now in land fill and I am full of fresh, dust free air.
