Suprisingly good, affordable brush
I understood how good this brush is, only after buying two other synthetic brushes priced two and three times higher. This Omega S-brush is no luxury item, but has a reasonable face feel and works very well.

THE PICTURE IS ACCURATE, THE DESCRIPTION IS NOT.
What I wanted, and what I received, was an Omega 10019, natural boar bristle shaving brush. Shown in the picture is the 10019, labeled "Pura Setola," which is Italian for "pure bristles." I didn't realize until after I ordered, that the description is for the S10019 -- a brush the same size and color, but with synthetic bristles, which I don't care for. The S10019 is labeled "S Brush" where the 10019 is labeled Pura Setola. So, I got lucky, and got what I wanted. It was delivered in good time, in perfect condition. This is my third Omega brush, and I recommend them highly: very good quality, and reasonably priced. I've had no problems with the other two, just getting dialed in on what size and bristle I want. The Pro48 is rather big; the badger bristle one I got is a little floppy for my taste. The 10019 is the right size for me, with good backbone, and lathers unbelievably well! For those who might be put off by the characteristic scent of a new boar brush, just make a lather or two with either Dawn dish detergent, or a good shampoo, rinse the brush well, then use your favorite scented shaving soap, and you won't notice it any more.

Not ideal for shave soaps - better to use with a shave cream.
I have both Omega's boar and synthetic. The softness of the synthetic is good and is well made. However, the synthetic is best used with soft shave creams to generate lather as it is not so good with shave soaps. You have to work it a lot to get any kind of lather from soaps. Better to get their boar or badger brush to use with shave soaps.

It says "Made In Italy" on the handle
My brushes are a collectors item as well as shaving tools, so I require country of origin on the handle. This I love. I am proud to own things made by folks who are proud to display this on the product. However, I sort of assumed it would be a nice solid and heavy handle. The handle is hollow and floats above the bristles when I soak it. So far it hasn't leaked. The shave was nice. I like that it's nice and light like a badger hair, but it's synthetic so no badgers were tortured and killed in China or anything like that. Giving it 4 stars. Definitely would give 5 with a heavy handle made from some kind of resin.

Great brush with a great Lather
Great brush with a great Lather. It holds a great amount of water. Easily gets the job done. The smell of a boar brush at first is off putting. When you get it. Soak it it hot soapy water. After 30 min or so rinse it. Then use your preferred soap of cream, lather it up and let it dry tips up overnight. Rinse with hot water, repeat if necessary. I found with my cream ( Taylor of Bond St.- grapefruit) that it was not needed. I really think this is a great brush. I have used badger and boar, i prefer the boar, bit more stiff. Cant go wrong for a low cost$$$$$$03.09.15- UPDATE This brush has only lost a hair or 2. Has been a great brush and held up with very very little hair loss.

Good Brush, Terrible Handle!
I decided to try this because I don't want to use animal hair. It's a good brush but my only complaint is the handle! It's not solid and it pops open very easily. Water gets inside it every time I shave and I have to open it so it dries out. It's just not well designed. I will probably glue it and seal it to avoid this problem.Putting that aside, the brush itself works well. It's easy to clean, dries quickly, and builds a nice lather. I would probably pick something with a solid handle instead of this.

Made from genuine nauga-beast, the same source of Naugahyde...
It’s very soft compared to their bristle brushes. Recommended for shaving creams and softer soaps.for traveling you need a stand to dry a brush out.Good small brush and no extra smell from the animal.
