This tome doesn't shy away from these reels impact in both precision and tournament castingFor practical fishing lefties (actually enables a right hander, an ept first strike response!) didn't appear till later in their history. Custom builders that offered both anti-reverse dogs and clutch bearings were not necessarily catering for the analogous insecurity of simultaneous wearing of belt and braces!

This book is the most comprehensive collector's book that I have ever seen in the fishing reel arena. Solid research and data analysis, concise presentation, crisp text, even some humor. Filled with many color photos and illustrations, data tables, reel schematics, patent drawings, and much more - everything a collector would want to know about these reels. Who would have known that there are more than 60 distinct variants of these small Ambassadeurs! This book is a must-buy for Ambassadeur collectors who now have the information necessary to validate the authenticity of each of the small Ambassadeur variants and reduce the chance of purchasing fakes, forgeries, and "put-together" reels.As the author of a collector's book in the firearms field (The FN-49 - The Last Elegant Old-World Military Rifle) I can well appreciate the effort that went into the creation of this book. BRAVO and congratulations to the authors.

Beautifully done and well researched. The book is worth it just for the amazing photos. Add in the rich detail on the variations and changes through the years, and this book is a 10!

The content was more consentrated on reel collectors than use as fishing reel.
