Stop the Bite
I have bitten my nails for about 20 years, started as a habit when I was very young. Decided to try this product as I was tired of my nails looking ragged and horrible all the time. This product is fantastic at cutting your habit. I am 1 week in, using this product twice a day, and not bitten my nails at all. I would bite subconciously when I was on the computer or watching a movie and now, this product reminds me to stop whenever i bite. It tastes absolutely FOUL, which is the point of the product, but it is seriously nasty and the chemical taste lingers for a while. The only problem is that this can transfer onto foods you are eating with your hands, like a packet of crisps or slice of toast, so you need to be careful. Also, if you put this stuff on your nails, you NEED to remove it after each day of use, as the potency drops off considerably after around 6 hours, and putting layers over layers of this stuff on your nails looks pretty nasty. Removes very easily with nail varnish remover. All in all, wonderful product that I am confident will curb my habit.

wonderful
My 10 year old son has been biting his nails horribly for years and we've tried everything else out there with no long term success - he would get over the bad taste within days and just eat through the product. His nails were starting to grow abnormally because they were always bitten back to about half their normal length - must have been painful but he couldn't stop himself. I didn't have much hope but so far this has been great. We don't need to apply twice a day - only once before bed as it lasts 24 hours. He has not bitten for over a month now, stopped immediately, but did put them back in his mouth after one weekend when we weren't able to apply it so the habit isn't broken yet - guess that takes a while. I'm going to keep applying for a quite a few more months but am feeling really positive. Only problem is that now he has started picking at the skin around his nails and making it raw that way, but unfortunately there isn't something on the market to stop that!

You do need to apply at least once a day
I don't bite my nails (much if at all) when this is on as the taste is pretty nasty, and does leave a very, very bitter/sour taste in my mouth which even after swilling with water, doesn't go for ages. When I stop using it, the taste remains on the nail for 4 or 5 days, even after all the glaze is gone, but decreases in strength each day, so you get slightly used to its taste. I need to use it every day for about 3 months but the most I've managed is 3 weeks (my nails did start to look like nails when I did go for those 3 weeks without biting, and it was great to use a nail file - amazing I got to that having bitten my nails constantly for the last 38 - 40 yrs). If I could have the strength to ensure I use it every day, I believe I could succeed. Try it and see.

Undeserved punishment
OK first of all this stuff does taste nasty... But I don't see why it has to. You see, the way it works is that it acts as a trigger... You put your finger in your mouth without even realising and this stuff makes you aware of what you're doing. In that sense it works... It makes you aware, it reminds you and it stops you chewing your nails off. But I think it would still work if it was strawberry flavoured... it would still work as a reminder.Anyway the only bad thing about his product is the undue punishment you have to endure from eating a pizza and licking your fingers. Any kind of accidental contact will leave the taste lingering for an unfair amount of time. I'm tasting this stuff on my lips as I write this and I've no idea how it got there. So to summarise... This works and you will taste it, if you want to or not.

Succeeds where everything else fails
Disgusting! But it's totally helped me to kick the habit. Your nails will definitely grow long when you're wearing this (but remember to reapply every day or two otherwise it will come off and you'll be back to biting!). However, as others have commented, it's so potent that the taste comes off on anything you touch (including toast, sandwiches etc.) so watch out! Also, it's a weird feeling having long nails - now I've got to learn how to manicure - at age 38, it's a bit late to be learning it, but better late than never, and testimony to the effectiveness of this product.

Highly recommended. Perfect at stopping thumb sucking.
I bought this product to encourage my daughter to stop sucking her thumbs and was a little sceptical as to how this product would work. I gave it a try myself and found out! It tastes 'awful' and the taste doesn't go away even after brushing your teeth and rinsing many times. She tasted it once and hasn't let her thumb go anywhere near her mouth since and I only put it on her nails twice. Highly recommended product.

Bite at your own peril!
One word.... FOUL!Which is of course what it should be.It's working up to now so it's definitely doing its job.A word of caution though... it's so foul it actually transfers the taste to food if your not careful when handling. This doesn't bother me one bit though as it all helps in reinforcing the idea that I shouldn't be biting my nail in the first place. It's just a bit of a shock when you bite into an apple and taste this! I would have given it 5 stars otherwise but don't let that put you off as I can guarantee it works and you'd have to be very strange indeed to develop a liking for its taste!
