VERY DANGEROUS ❗DO NOT BUY
Please see the videos too. AMAZON IS CONDUCTING AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PRODUCT. Vendor has yet to issue refund. Including the labor to install and then to Uninstall, parts and this item, its cost more than $750 in total and injuries to my wife.The step is made of cheap plastic. Contrary to the manufacturer's claim of being able to hold 500 pounds, it warps with even under 120 pounds. The screws holding the step in place screw into plastic stubs (see picture) and they break easily. The rubber grip on the step go in (see video) and someone exiting the vehicle wearing heals would get their heal stuck and fall forward on their face and hit their head on the sidewalk (as happened). This step is supposed to be a safety enhancement, instead, someone can die BECAUSE of this step. The seller/manufacturer has not been helpful. Amazon has requested them to issue me a full refund, but even after a second request, the vendor has not issued refund.Given their disregard, the total out of pocket expenses and injuries, we are weighting our options.

Quality is ok. Does not fit good on 2011 GL450. Had to modify them in order to fit somewhat good.

You get what you pay for vs OEM parts
Out of the box, I found broken straps and loose support. There were spares in the hardware provided. You can’t expect $300 side steps to be perfect and strong as OEM Mercedes-Benz parts, costing about $2500 with a metal bracket. You can install these five times over and not spend as much as OEM. I did have to leave the plastic bracket in the sun to soften and be able to install the nuts underneath. Two clips on both sides passenger doors did not clip in. These are small things are are not noticeable until you get within a foot to point them out. I am mostly got them for my pregnant wife to be able to get in and out easier, I weigh 275lbs and do not want to put my full weight on the side steps. I feel like we are worth the $300 for accessibility and appearance but did not get them as side protection, it’s just plastic.
