Easy to use, and cut to size
I have used these in the past, and are much easier to used than laying concrete slabs etc. Due to the thickness of the sheds floor bearers, some 50mm, I had to remove all the 'clips' that would normally fit narrower floor bearers.Easy to cut with a decent saw, and come with plenty of screws, which you might not need if these are being used on 25mm bearers, but most certainly were on 50 mm bearers. I would certainly buy these for my next project.

Shed floor bearer protector skids.
Great product easy to fit,but would be great if they could supply some that could take a 60mm wide bearer for where you have to join two floor bases. Also if a bit less expensive would definitely get 5 star plus.

Great solution for keeping sheds off the ground - kit was a bit hit and miss
My kids' school had recently bought a couple of sheds and had asked if anyone could assemble them - muggins here offered to do the job and quickly realised that plonking a couple of £1000+ each sheds directly on the brick playground wasn't going to do them any favours. The EcoBearers seemed liked the easiest solution (compared to plastic blocks) as they simply clip on to the 35mm bearers and can then be screwed on. That said there were a couple of niggles - the sheds were a weird size - 8x8 ish foot and thus the design had a double bearer on the floor in the middle which meant I had to chop the clips off 4 of them to fit flush instead - that still meant all 7 bearers had support. Each EcoBearer is around 60cm or 2ft long so there was a bit of overhang at the ends - again after attaching the first set and struggling to cleanly chop the excess off with a woodsaw, I realised that trimming them on the bandsaw was an easier solution for the second - the plastic is fairly soft so this was a much cleaner solution. The other oddity was the number of screws supplied which seemed to bear no logical division between the bearers - in the end I went with 2 screw per section and some extras on the end with a few (but not enough for all) random ones left over - the instructions were pretty vague on this but as there are a number of holes and screw configurations, a little guidance would have been helpful. Other than missing one entire pack (2 were ordered but only one delivered to start with) it seems to be a good solution to keeping sheds off the wet.

Ideal way to protect shed base
The wick effect of wood is well known, and nothing rots a wooden shed more rapidly than the base sitting in water being constantly wet and unable to dry out properly and becomes the perfect host for mildew, mould and fungi, all of which helps speed up the rotting process.I have always used I always used a branded rubberised paint on the joists of the floor, to help keep them from absorbing too much water. But over time, the rubber paint deteriorates and allows more moisture to penetrate. So, I looked around for a better solution and found the EcoBearer Shed Base.I still (out of habit) treated the floor joists with the rubberised paint, however, this is not necessary, before installing the EcoBearer Base. These went on easily enough, though I did use a screw driver to pry the “grips” over the joists. I also found that Toe-Nailing the screws in was more effective than driving them straight down. You can see from the images that I have uploaded how it all fits together. Once installed, there is a decent air flow area under the shed floor, and any standing water (unless your garden floods) will not reach the wooden joists, making the shed floor last even longer. (Of course, at this point, I can’t make any honest determination, only an expectation), however, I feel a lot happier with the EcoBearer Base as it is very strong and sturdy, holds the shed floor above ground away from water, and the width of the EcoBearers makes the shed base a lot sturdier and more stable. Just need to remember to clear out the gap under the shed on a regular basis during autumn to ensure it doesn’t clog with leaves.
