Great Vac (but not for long hair dogs)
This is a really good vacuum we love the Oreck brand. It is very light and powerful. We did have to return it though as we have a dog with long hair and it just wraps around the roller terribly.

The perfect vacuum!!
This vacuum is really self propelled, lightweight and streamlined to get in spaces most vacuums can’t. The headlamps are outrageous! I turn the lights off and find dust and dirt you’d never see in a well lit room. The HEPA feature was a must for me, as well as the bagged component. If you just dump a canister of dust in the trash, much will go airborne. It also has a completely sealed system so there’s no blow back - that’s hard to find. It’s built to last and does an excellent job on both hardwoods and carpet. I highly recommend.

Breaks at the Handle!!!
I could not have described this problem better! Danny Boy wrote : {Oreck used to be a good brand before China bought it. But after only two and a half years of half-way decent vacuuming, this morning while vacuuming the plastic handle at the top of my Oreck upright broke right off at the top of the metal neck of the unit. I was stunned. Never expected such a thing with an upright. Clean off! And of course when I called Oreck they said the warranty for this model doesn't cover this at all. So one star only for this cheaply built Oreck that will only last two years.}Ours lasted 2 1/2 years with same stupid break at the handle to metal interface. The integral handle broke clean off!!! I would share a photo, but do simply search for Danny Boy's post to see the exact breakdown of the handle - he posted exactly the photos that I would have posted. An Incredibly dumb design. Given time, this will happen to all these particular model vacuum cleaners from Oreck. And at the time of purchase, Amazon stated this as supposedly 'assembled' in the USA, but the plastic handle-to-metal design sucks more than the Oreck vacuum cleaner. That's north of 300USD down the drain, sucked up, up and away. :-( Raspberries.

The best vacuum I've owned.
Simple, effective vacuum cleaner.

Almost great, and good enough for the price
This is a lightweight, simple and powerful vacuum cleaner. For some reason, it is getting harder to find decent vacuum cleaners for under $500 (If you can afford it, I recommend Miele). I like the simplicity of this Oreck-to maintain it you just change the bags, and there are no bells and whistles or "smart" features to worry about. It doesn't lie completely flat, and has no lights, but the design is clean and attractive, and the suction is decent. It also has an extra long cord, which is a nice feature. There are 2 settings, 1 for floors and 1 for carpet. I have a lot of hardwood floors, and it has not damaged them. The biggest downside is that this vacuum acts like a wild horse. The minute you turn it on, it goes charging across the floor by itself, and it will eat anything in its path. The first time I used it, it destroyed a sisal rug that it passed, by snaring a corner and unraveling it. Continuing on, it grabbed a plastic wrist strap on an umbrella and tore that off-I'm sure it would have ingested the whole umbrella if it could. It is also LOUD.But I've kissed a couple of frogs to get to it, and I'm keeping it.

#1 Vac
This replaced my 25 year old Oreck. It is just as lightweight and powerful as my old model.

Oreck still rocks!
I LOVE Oreck vacuum cleaners I have always used them I didn’t know if the near version would be as good as the older xl 21 but it is! I like that this company understands that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. They haven’t changed the design all that much they just took some of the flaws of the older one and fixed them! It is a simple design it’s incredibly light weight but WOW it has POWER! It can outclean a dyson any day. I also like that it is bagged it has excellent filtration and I love that when I empty it the bag closes so no dust escapes. It also does very good on both hard floors and carpet. I highly recommend this vacuum it’s wonderful.

Do NOT buy this vacuum!
I had this vacuum for just over a year and it worked well. I’ve used it so infrequently, I’ve yet to have to change my filter bag, not even once. It looks brand new. That being said, I was vacuuming recently and the handle just snapped in two. What’s worse, it is juuuuuust out of warranty, so there is naturally nothing that can be done. Very poorly made that a handle would snap in two and I paid way too much money for such a poorly manufactured vacuum. I would have thought I would have, at least, been offered a coupon toward a new vacuum but when I called, they were absolutely zero help. If you’re making this type of an investment, I highly recommend you do so elsewhere. Looking for recommendations and obviously willing to pay for quality!
