New to the Fortigate brand, delighted w the device purchased on Amazon Business...
My new IT guy insisted I get current w my firewall & network gear so rather than extending the licensing w my former,well known comparable brand firewall appliance, he had me get a new Fortigate 100 w a 3 year licensing agreement.I found it priced competitively from a factory authorized reseller on Amazon Business so I gave it a try. It fit nicely in a 1U space in my rack & was easy to set up & integrate w another brand switch & WAP. It recognized them right away & I was able to get them up & functioning with very little fuss. The device recognized it needed a firmware update so w very little input from me, the new device found it online & updated itself to the most current firmware version much to the chagrin of my IT pro. He thought it would undo all his set up & brick the device but the exact opposite happened. It updated itself flawlessly & my gear setup was retained without any tweaking after the update. The user interfaces works great & as w most devices, grows more intuitive after investing a little time in the saddle. I only gave it 4 stars as it's 2 little cooling fans provided a noise level in an enclosed rack that reminded my wife of a jet engine sound. My IT pro got me 2 well rated after market cooling fans & that noise has totally disappeared. He showed me the new fan orientation in the unit is key. I don't recommend doing that w out 1st checking w the manufacturer on what impact, if any, opening that (or any) device has on the factory warranty. PS: a key benefit from buying it on Amazon Business was I noticed a fairly significant price reduction immediately after purchasing it. After a bit of firm encouragement, the reseller rebated me the difference in price via Amazon Business who in turn related me the pro rated tax on the price difference. Couldn't be happier w or hesitate purchasing from either the reseller or Amazon Business. THX again guys!
