Magnetic Lines of Force Demo Set, 3D Magnetic Field Demonstrator

This is a very cool magnetic field viewer! We tried to make them in my middle school science class, but we couldn’t get close to this awesome viewer. My advice is to jiggle it he viewer back and forth instead of up and down to see the field lines most clearly. Great product!

Great tool for teaching magnetic fields. Ideal for third or fourth grade. One caution: The cube and flat containers are filled with gel. If the small plug is dislodged, then the gel leaks out and makes a mess. I now handle the cube myself, as opposed to letting students play freely with it. Overall, a great visual aid.

This is as cool as I have seen. Iron particles randomly float in the clear fluid. Insert the magnet and the particles line up in 3 dimensions. I had prepped the kids on what to expect, but there were ahhhh's and ohhhh's when they lined up. They could easily see the effect. Without the clear fluid, it is really hard to demonstrate because the iron particles clump, bunch and stop moving. This is much better!!!

I contacted the seller regarding the cube leaking and I got no response. Its very bad quality. disappointingly I wasted a lot of money

I bought this because I thought it would be super interesting to physically see the magnetic field of a magnet. This product does that perfectly. In the box there are two field visualizers and some magnets. One visualizer is a cube, the other a thing rectangular prism. Both work really wonderfully and I've had a lot of fun with different types of magnets and different magnet arrangements. However, after a couple months of usage the cube has started to leak from the edges (not even the hole they plugged up after putting the oil in, just the seams where the plastic pieces were glued together). The leak is a slow leak, all I notice when I pick it up is that a little bit of oil has pooled at the base of the cube. I suppose that eventually a lot of the oil will leak out this way. It is an expensive product so I would expect it to last longer before breaking. Lots of fun but broke pretty quickly.

This magnetic field demonstrator is one of the few commercially available versions that allows you to see the magnetic field in three dimensions. By quickly rotating back and forth the field viewer around the magnet axis the iron filings are scattered in the oil and align themselves in a beautiful threedimensional pattern which lasts for a few seconds before the iron filings settle close to the magnet and require another shakeup.

Excellent product for my classes!

This seemed like a wonderful purchase for my son, but after a month, it began to leak. Now this expensive "toy" is rendered unusable.
