A great soundbar with awesome sound!
I bought this Yamaha soundbar to go along with a 32" Samsung TV that we bought for my daughter for college. We have a larger Yamaha soundbar that we use with our 52" TCL TV, and it works great. My son and I connected it last night, and it was plug and play simplicity. This soundbar comes with an optical cable, so you don't have to buy one separately. Note- the optical cable comes with small, opaque plastic covers on each end of the cable. These need to be removed before you attach the optical cable to either the TV or the soundbar. All you have to do is plug the optical cable into the "TV" outlet on the back of the soundbar and into the "Optical audio" outlet on the TV, go to settings on your TV and select "Optical audio" on audio inputs, and you are all set to go- 5 minutes start to finish. (BTW- this speaker is also Bluetooth compatible; however, my Samsung TV does not support Bluetooth; hence the need for an optical cable). We watched "Shrek" online, and the sound quality of this soundbar as compared to the TV's built-in speakers is a night and day difference. Since the audio is as important as the video, you owe it to yourself to get a high quality soundbar. This Yamaha soundbar fits the bill perfectly.

Love Love Love This Soundbar
Got this to replace a Bose computer sound system I've had for twenty years. It still works just fine, but the subwoofer on the floor and the two desktop speakers have way too many wires to deal with. When I decided to reset my entire office layout I went looking for the right soundbar. This one is perfect for an affordable and quality solution. Set up and connectivity is beyond simple, blutooth connectivity is solid, and sound is better than expected. The controller has clear voice and base management options so you can quickly tailor sound to your changing needs. It is not a high-end audiophile nothing but the best solution, but if you are looking for a clean, simple, and dependable unit with very good sound, this is it.

Okay but buggy and failing after 4 years.
Had it 4 years now. Sound was okay and tweakable through settings and using the Yamaha SB Remote app. It’s flaky at times and now suddenly keeps lowering volume to zero on its own. Seems the optical was always flaky. I got 4 years out of it but looking for something better this time.

If you're new to soundbars this is the best entry
Yamaha is a trusted brand of mine when it comes to audio gear. I was doing research on soundbars that deliver good sound for gaming and movies (strictly bluray for superior sound). I kept seeing this Yamaha pop up in many peoples top lists. I got it because of the brand, price and it being only one piece.Setup was super easy. Unbox. Connect your soundbar to your TV via Optical or a special kind of HDMI cord that's not included btw. I didn't have that HDMI cord but thankfully this thing will connect to your tv via OPTICAL cable.I tested this out watching PIXAR/DISNEY movies and let me tell you... this sound bar really pops off with sounds i never heard before. Gaming on my PS4 Pro sounds great. I'm hearing things i never heard from the built in speakers.I got two of these. one for my office and living room. I'm super satisfied with this soundbar and will continue to use it until i decide to upgrade to a pricier soundbar with subwoofer setup.

Big Bang For The Buck
I am very happy with this purchase. My space is limited so I didn't want a big huge bar. The compact size is perfect. The quality of sound is impressive. It has a built in subwoofer so there's no need trying to make space for another awkward box.I grew up on tube amps and vinyl and of course this doesn't really compare. They are completely different beasts, but to be perfectly honest, when I crank it up listening to jazz, classical, hip hop, r & b, old soul, blues, Sinatra, loud rock n roll, whatever, it fills the room and sounds great. It doesn't sound like compressed mush like some smart speakers, especially of a budget variety. One can hear the individual instruments as well as the studio atmosphere. It's not super customizable. You can turn up the bass or volume, no real treble control, but it doesn't bother me and I'm fairly picky about sound. Movies sound great. No need for subtitles with this thing. Also I haven't experienced the commonly ridiculous audio disparity. I hate turning up the volume to hear dialogue and then there's a deafening sound effect or orchestral swell. This thing is pretty even while still packing a punch.Big bang for the buck. If you're looking for an inexpensive sound bar with kick and quality, this is it.

Decent Sound Bar for the money
This sound bar is great if you need something compact and want to improve the overall sound coming from your TV. No doubt that it is a step up from the internal TV speaker sound. The Bluetooth connection is quick and stable. The downside is that it is not very powerful and lacks low end bass. Adding to that, you cannot add a subwoofer. So if you just want clearer sound for voices and you have limited space then this sound bar might work for you. Otherwise for a little more money, if you want to stick with Yamaha, would suggest to get the YAS-109 or YAS-209 with the sub.
