Best Water Softner Out There
Okay this is going to be a 2 part review. 1 for the product and 1 for Rely Products, the company I purchased the item from. First the product is awesome there is nothing like on the market for the value. Now for Rely Products, there was a wee bit of a problem with this company but after a few emails back and forth all was fixed. I first gave them an Awful review, I now have to upgrade that to a 3 star review. 3 stars because it should never have gotten as far as it did. But Rely Products did come through in the end and refund my purchase. This they did not have to do, I am glad they did as it really was the right thing to do, I will not go into the nitty gritty of my experience, enough to say they made it right by refunding my purchase price for that the 3 stars. I would love to give small companies 5 stars as their Rep makes or breaks them, I am hoping that we both will be happy with the 3 stars.

Go to water softener!
We've used this water softener with our hard water here in Kansas City. We've washed everything from cloth diapers, to our daily laundry needs. It's helped ensure everything is cleaned well. Simple, but necessary need!

Would like Amazon.com to resume being a seller of this item
I have ordered this item many times when it was sold by Amazon.com. The product itself works very well as a laundry additive, since we have very hard water in our area. You can make a washing soda and borax solution that works similarly to counter hard water, but Calgon is more effective and of course more convenient. Most of the time, there was little or no problem with the packaging. The bottles were enclosed in a plastic bag with a crimped closure at the top. Not 100% leakproof but fairly close. On most orders, there was no leakage at all. A couple of times, there was a little moisture inside the bag but none escaped, and the bottles just needed to be dried off a bit. Only one time did some liquid leak out and made a 1" x 2" wet spot in the corner of the shipping box. That's just my experience, of course. At the moment, Amazon.com has discontinued selling this product themselves (presumably because of some packaging complaints) and is "investigating". Personally, I wish they had continued selling this product, and just put a "must ship separately from other items" restriction, if they were really concerned about it. The only other vendors available now sell this product at ridiculously inflated prices ($12 to $20 per bottle) compared to Amazon.com's price of $5.34-$5.50 per bottle. The small risk of a leak is well worth the cost savings in my opinion. If I run out before Amazon.com resumes selling this, I will mix my own water softener before I pay $12+ per bottle.(Update 8/5/13) The "we're investigating" popup no longer appears for this item, so I'm assuming that Amazon.com has completed their "investigation" and has decided they will not sell this product, which is a shame. I guess it's time to do some mixing, unless Walmart or somebody else is selling it at a reasonable price ...

Love, Love, Love This Stuff!
I have been a fan of this product for years. After burning through several pairs of Levis every year for over a decade, I realized that mineral accumulation in the cotton fibers was literally ripping the fabric of the jeans apart in my agitator washing machine. I started using 1 capful of Calgon in the wash water and then one capful of Calgon in the final rinse water and I've saved hundreds of dollars in clothing costs. It's expensive, but cheaper than buying three new pair of Levis every year; now I can even buy thrift store used jeans, and they last, wash after wash! And the cost is even more enticing with Amazon's purchasing options. If you love your cottons, use Calgon!

Especially good for hard water area
Our water is very hard, and it's difficult for my detergents or additives to do any good unless I use the Calgon Softener. With the Calgon, my clothes are among the whitest and softest around.

Cleaning action
I like this product or I would not be ordering all the time. I does a good job of cleaning my clothes and it makes the water soft which helps remove soiled area.

GOT HARD WATER? - GET THIS
Our water is city water, but the city gets the water from a well, so softening, or conditioning to be more precise, is a must. This product does a great job and makes the laundry process much better. Clothes turn out cleaner, whiter, and softer to the touch. The liquid is more convenient (in our opinion) than the powdered product, so I can easily recommend this prouct without hesitation.

Great for cloth diapers!
I bought this to use when washing our cloth diapers, as we have very hard water (did you know that hard water causes build-up and resulting odor on cloth diapers?) I use a cap full with each diaper load, and I it helps them remain clean, absorbent, and stench free. I've also started using it with my towels, as the hard water affects those as well!! I only wish they had a "subscribe and save" option, because I tend to forget to reorder!! It comes in a pretty small bottle, so if you use it often, it's worth buying 2 or 3 bottles at a time.
