Q: Do these get hard? The ones at Walmart stay liquified while hot...thanks!!

Yes they do once they cool off. But they stop hot for a very long time. So once you have used and they cool you just boil them and the get soft once again. So the only time they are hard is after you used and they have cool. I love mine.

Q: One of ours ruptured in the freezer. How do we exchange it?

I've had heating pads like this growing up and they were awesome. Freezing them will brake them which is confusing because the packaging says "Hot + Cold" Yes you do have to make sure to boil long enough. When I had mine (little hand held warmers I got from REI 15-20 years ago) I was worried about melting the plastic and wrapped mine in a wash cloth the picture here shows then thrown right into the pot so maybe that's not a worry?

Q: Are these scented or unscented? I have read that the scented ones can be overpowering.

I do not believe that this type come in scented. The two different brand names that we have are NOT scented.
