Q: I have an xt-90 battery connector on a lipo. does this come with a useable charging cable and able to charge this

It has an XT-60 connector, in my case I have an XT-30 LiPo, so I bought an adapter on Amazon as well, which is quite cheap. Maybe that works for you too if you can find one from XT-60 to XT-90.

Q: I have an sla battery, but the charger keeps saying "disconnect" no matter what i try. is it a defective unit?

The meter has a lot of options to go through when you set it up for a specific type of battery. The instruction manual (Page 15) for Pb batteries suggests holding the enter key for 2 seconds to get the charger to start. If the disconnect message appears again the charger could be warning you of a fault with your SLA battery. Has it been standing for a long period of time without being used? Try and borrow a different type of battery from a flying club/model shop to check out if the charger gives the same message. The multi connector lead may have an internal short circuit which is a common fault of errors. If the charger unit is starting up, lights flashing, fan running and menu buttons doing their jobs it's unlikely to be faulty.
