Great budget laptop
Have it for close to 2 months. I am very happy with it. Everything is snappy. The screen display is very good, i.e. sharp, bright, and no reflection. After the 30 days return window, I added a 2nd HDD with Sony 860 Evo - 500gb 2.5" SATA drive, and replaced the 4gb ram with a Crucial 16gb Ram. Now the laptop has 756gb memory and 20gb ram.Update 7/22/21 - Exactly 5 months from the day I bought it, the laptop is acting very weird. The fan is on loud most of the time, even when the laptop is sleeping. When waking up, the screen is totally black while the keyboard light is on. I have to hit the power key until the laptop turns off. Then turn it back on for everything to work again. Very upset about this.Update 7/24/21 - I found the culprit that caused fan working loudly all the time, and screen turned black when wake up. It's not Acer's fault. The PresentationFontCache.exe was using 28% to 35% of CPU, causing an overheat. You can find this culprit in the Task Manager. Search in Google, many advised to just delete the file. They also explained how it could be done. Once I delete the file and reboot, my Aspire is working like normal again: nice, fast and quiet. No more loud fan, and black screen. It's back to 5 stars.

No touch screen, thank goodness
My mother was looking for a new laptop. Hers could be upgraded - swapping the spinning drive for an SSD or M.2 would have resolved the intolerable speed issues - but it had one fundamental problem: it had a touch screen, which she hated. I promised to find her one without. My last several laptops, low end and "gaming", have included non-touch screens - for me it wasn't an issue either way, but that's how it had turned out. Both were Acers; I had positive impressions about their balance of features and price. So when I found this SKU it quickly went on the shortlist.I didn't want to do a lot under the hood. I'm willing to upgrade RAM and storage when needed, but if I don't need to that speeds the process of setting up for handoff. This model already had sufficient RAM and a speedy drive to resolve my mother's speed concerns. She doesn't do much more than web browsing and creating Word documents, but her old laptop's spinning drive made opening anything a question of tens of seconds, a delay even she noticed.Setup of the Acer was a breeze. I had it registered and configured in just a couple of hours, though I dragged it out a bit because I was enjoying the new-snow feel of a fresh installation. I was pleasantly surprised by how fast and responsive this was. Barely any delay between double-clicking an app and having it launched and usable. Web pages loaded lickety-split, and looked great on the screen. The no-touch screen gloriously ignored casual contact and intentional swiping. Battery life was more than sufficient. My mom has been thrilled with the upgrade. It was a bit more than we wanted to spend, but honestly the spacious RAM, more-than-sufficient-for-her drive space, and faster-than-expected CPU and GPU should mean that this laptop will last her for years and still make a covet-worthy hand-me-down to a deserving sibling. Acer offers a lot for the money, and I once again I wasn't disappointed.

Good buy in general
The Acer receives strong reviews in the budget laptop category, and performs well. It’s quick, crisp and easy to use. The only issue is the low level computer audio (can be overcome with headphones). It’s pretty light and the screen is a good size. Recommend for general use (I don’t play any games or stream on it).

Not worth it
Hello everyone, if you’re looking for a laptop with mediocre battery life, a keyboard where the backlight turns off after not using it for 30 seconds and then having to hit a small button on the keyboard to turn it back on, and a not so portable laptop, well this is the laptop for you. I’ve had my Acer aspire 5 since September of 2021, and I already sent it away for warranty repair 2 TIMES!!! they replaced the motherboard twice because the integrated gpu failed TWICE within the same month keep in mind, and I do nothing hardcore on this laptop, only school, and work related things. It gets incredibly hot for no reason as if I’m pushing it to its limit, and I had it BSOD numerous times. moral of this review, get an ASUS.

Got A Lemon
Got this on March 12 and I've just shipped it back to Acer for the second time for battery issues. The first battery got really hot and wouldn't charge. Sent to Acer repair, they replaced battery and shipped back to me. Almost immediately I had battery problems. The support person told me to use the pinhole to reset the battery which would work for a day or two and I'd have to reset it again. After 2 weeks the battery wouldn't charge again so back to the repair center. This is beyond aggravating. If I hadn't spent so much money on it, I'd trash it. This is used as a business computer so you can imagine how happy I am. No more Acers for me.

Great for accounting work!
This laptop is wonderfully priced to take care of my remote work. I am a staff accountant at a law firm so generating/processing documents, heavy excel usage, and on the side I do a little bit of marketing for my husband's business. It is very efficient, so lightweight, and I love the features of the keys lightning and turn off the touchpad to use external mouse. Sound quality is good and would recommend for higher education students or remote work not needing intense graphics and such.
