I think a shorter ponytail would work. I don’t have long hair but think if you positioned your hair in connection to the hat hole it may be just fine. I love the hat! I have short hair. It is easy to pack and fits well..

I know it’s a foldable hat but how do you get it to look presentable enough to wear. It has so many folds & wrinkles in it, it looks nothing like the ad pictured, it looks like I found it in the trash, no structure or shape at all.

Q: Is the ponytail hole always open or is it a flap? I don't have long hair, so I wouldn't need that feature.

It’s always open. It’s adjustable in that area to fit your head. I also have short hair and don’t think it detracted from the look. The hole isn’t that big. Looks bigger in that picture.
