I’m very pleased
For me, the clip is a great addition to an Opinel blade. It takes a little getting used to, especially with fine carving tasks. A simple grip adjustment fixes most of that issue. I think the look of the clip complements the knife nicely. It’s a smart product that was executed well.

Perfect fit on my No. 8 Opinel and securely clips to my pocket or belt
The clip is made from a stainless steel that has a good deal of spring to it, so it fought me a bit going on to begin with. But dont worry going slow and patiently will get ya there and it will snap into place. Just line the gap up with the gap in the knifes locking ring and slot in the handle. The clip does sometimes not move exactly with the lock as you rotate it and you need to move it around a bit until its out of the way for opening and closing, but that is just a matter of getting accustomed to it being there and operating it with the clip on it.Other than that minor thing, no problems at all, it still holds well in the hand for use.And if removal is desired, I found a length of paracord looped through the top of the clip with the knife closed and pulled straight up going lengthwise with the knife pulls the clip off easily and no damage to the knife.

The clip also works as an additional, independent lock mechanism
This clip is also works as an additional lock for the Opinel knives and aid safety. But it's very clunky to use, make the knife almost impossible to open in one hand. I was able to open Opinel in one hand, but after installing this I don't think I'd able to do that again.Another feature is when the clip is positioned correctly, it becomes very stable, comfortable placement for your thumb, make the knife more ergonomic when in use.Overall it's a nice addition for your Opinel, worthwhile if you needed clip for your Opinel or potentially turn your Opinel more ergonomic by making thumb placement. Some people might criticize the design because the clip is independent from the lock, making it awkward and clunky to use, but if this product was designed to be connected to the lock, it would have been potential safety hazard; so the design is understandable and I think it's intended. And the price is bit to steep for a piece of clip. They claims it to be heat treated, it surely feels sturdy. Plus it's detachable so you can swap between your Opinels. It you like your Opinel so much, it worth a shot. As long as you can bear the clunkiness.

Nice pocket clip
It works, looks nice. Important thing to know that I didn’t, you turn the lock on the knife so it is unlocked, then you snap the pocket clip over it. When the pocket clip rotates it acts as the lock. I like that the clip can rotate and lock both directions. This allows you to clip the knife in either front pocket (inside) with the blade facing rearward. The clip is expensive for what it is but if you like the knife and don’t want it loose in your pocket the clip is worth it. I’m happy with the purchase.

Really should be a standard option on the #8...
The clip was a little tough to get onto the knife itself, but now that it's on I don't ever see it coming off again. The fit is super tight, but the clip can and will slide and rotate independently of the locking collar. It can be a little annoying, basically having to turn the collar to lock/unlock the knife and then fiddle with the clip so it clears the blade, but it's not a deal breaker. The clip itself isn't too rigid and is very easy to slip onto a pocket or belt. The only other downside is... $23? Really? The knife itself doesn't cost that much.

Cannot believe Opinel would sell this
As one of the other reviewers said, it slips. In its normal position, you have to be sure to turn both the clip and the locking ring if you want to open the blade. Then you have to hold onto both to lock the blade. At that poin you have clip that interferes with your ability to hold onto the handle. Closing it is just the same problems in reverse. Now that you have it closed and clipped into your pocket, you find the back of the blade digging into your body. Not a disaster, not comfortable. It is going back for some other unlucky buyer.

Way Too Fidgety and Expensive
I have no use for a pocket knife without a pocket clip. I had no interest in Opinel until the Clipinel and O-Clip hit the market. Price point is pretty steep when you consider the base price of the Opinel 8 is usually under $20, but it's the item I needed to add to the knife if it was ever going to be considered for daily carry. The clip installed easy enough. I really struggled with the factory lock ring not staying put under the new clip when rotating to open or close the knife. Ultimately, I opted to super glue the factory lock ring to the metal handle collar to keep it from rotating with the clip. You can see in the picture where a little dab of gel super glue was applied to keep the factory lock ring from rotating. For me this was the only workable solution to keep the factory lock ring from rotating with the clip.I've watched and waited over the last 8 months hoping there would be a version 2 of the clip that would fix the issue with the factory lock collar and O-clip getting out of sync with each other and making opening and locking the knife a fidgety affair. No luck on that front.IMHO, the best solution here would be for Opinel to modify the factory lock ring to include a pocket clip and offer it as an optional upgrade. It's not difficult at all to remove and replace the factory lock ring. Next best would be to modify to O-Clip to be a direct replacement for the Opinel lock ring. We can hope one of these options will be available in the future.
