Sound Quality is Excellent, Build Quality not so much
I have the Z7M2's. Did not like the sound quality of the stock cables, so invested in these. Bought them direct from Sony about 3-4 years ago. Noted the Made in China label, unlike the headphones themselveswhich were made in Taiwan. Sony makes many if not most of their better headphones in Thailand or even Japan, as well as Taiwan. In my experience, about 25 yrs in audio, Taiwan turns out higher qualityelectronics (and other goods) than does mainland China.Nonetheless, the Kimbers sounded better than the Sony stock cables. So I've been using the Kimbers since. They're uncomfortable to handle, they're rather stiff and don't soften at all over time.Worked well the first few years, then the left channel started cutting out whenever I moved myhead. I'm pretty sure that the Kimbers are cracking or disintegrating somewhere between the amp output and the headphone's left channel input. It's also pretty clear to me that one day soon this left channel problem will worsen and cut out entirely. While I hunt around for my original Sony cables to use as a "stopgap" while looking for a better replacement, I'm finding that this is no easy task, Not a lot of product around unless you'rewilling to part with some major league dollars. Even these Kimbers are "reasonably" pricxedconsidering the scant competition, and I have no intention of buying them again due to theirweak construction quality resulting in middling longevity at best. But YMMV as always.

Makes the HP sing!
This cable makes a huge difference in the sound of an already great headphone. Compares to a Fostex TH900 now. Enjoy!!

Awesome sounding and looking cable.
i wish i could say i loved this cable, but after a few months of use the gold plating has worn off causing a dip in sound quality, but even worse if the cable shifts at all in the socket the sound goes away in a burst of static. The stock Sony cable has not experienced this issue at all.

A temporary solution at best
This cable should be avoided until Sony and Kimber Cable do something to improve the quality of the connections on both ends of the cable. After owning this cable for about a year, I noticed that the gold plating on the amplifier side of the cable was wearing off, largely because of the way that the connector turns in the socket. This produces a good amount of static as it turns, which is extremely annoying in a product that is clearly marketed as premium by both Sony and Kimber. After contacting both Sony and Kimber Kable, I was informed that neither re-terminate the cable. In other words, almost $300 down the drain. As far as the sound quality is concerned, it is definitely an improvement over the stock cable. This becomes readily apparent if you are using it with the Sony headphone amp, which is definitely receptive to improvements in the quality of power and signal cables. If your power and RCA cables are silver plated, the level of treble tends to go way up. In some instances, female vocals become rather shrill and forward. Kimber cables tend to fix this problem as they use only copper in their conductors as opposed to Sony's silver plated copper conductors. In other words, they mellow the treble out without sacrificing any detail.
