イギリスのカメの診療事情をもとに書かれています。まえがきにもありますが、完璧なものではなく、入門書として書かれています。これからカメの診療も取り入れて行こうとする先生にはお勧めです。詳細はMedicine and Surgery of Tortoise and Turtlesを参照するように勧めています。前半はカメの診療に対する一般的なことが、後半は、カメでよくみられる症状ごとに解説がされています。症状ごとにまとまっているので、鑑別診断リストを作るのには役立つでしょう。難点は、治療法についての詳述がないことです。症状から、ある病気が疑われて、検査をして、せっかく暫定診断しても、その治療方法がはっきりしていないので、痛し痒しです。まだ新しい分野なので、犬猫のような定番の治療法が確定していないので、これは致し方ないというところでしょう。
