Dunlop Acoustic Trigger, Curved, Gold Guitar Capo (83CG)

I've used every kind of capo in existence (OK--a little exaggerated) from rubber bands and a ballpoint pen to the old-fashioned swing-gate-and-turnscrew types, and most of them work pretty well. But If you're looking for something you can grab and mount, something you can quickly shift from one fret to another, even during a tune, this is one of the best. There are other fast-mount capos that work pretty well, but others have a tendency to twist in one's hand (well, in MY hand) when you are shifting them, or they make you bring your hand over the edge of fretboard to grab them. This one is easy and pretty foolproof.It is also strong enough to use on a 12-string, which not all spring-type clamps will handle. That might be its one drawback, though--it's a pretty firm clamp-down, and you will get a little "sharpening," particularly of the lower (heavier) strings, because it really bottoms them out hard between frets. (This is where the screw-down ones may be better). On the other hand, if you have it on,say, the third fret, and have properly tuned to compensate for the capo, then shifting it one or two frets in either direction won't make as much difference. There are spring-type capos that claim to eliminate the note-raising effect, but I haven't been too impressed with them--and this one beats them all for quick-changing.

I love this capo! It is very stiff when you first get it. I would suggest you squeeze it over and over for a while throughout the day. This will help loosen the tension from the spring. Not enough that it won't work obviously but so you are not surprised by how tight it is at first. Last thing you want to do is accidentally miss your fret or misjudge the distance and have this snapping back and possibly damaging the fretboard with a scratch or the back of the neck. I do feel like a small grip on the bottom handle would benefit the capo and give you a better surface area to open it. Other than that, the capo looks great on my guitar and functions perfectly. It is not enough of an annoyance to knock off a star.

Its a capo, does its job well. Looks better than a Kyser, which is pretty much the same thing, just oriented differently. The only thing I would have a concern with is that you can not adjust the tension, like you can on a Shubb capo, so it could be clamping the hell out of your guitar, but I don’t see it being too much of an issue for most people. If you are planning on using it for different guitars, I would go for the Shubb, just because each fretboard and neck will require different tensions.

This is a very good Capo and fits the neck of my Godin guitar well, however as noted in reviews by others it does take a lot of hand strength to operate and would be impossible for me to use if I were performing. Fortunately I'm not in a band or performing so it is quite suitable. Other Capo designs are easier to use and equally effective for many guitars.

I had previously bought a capo which was totally flat and did not work with my guitar neck so I had to dig deeper into different capos until I found this. This capo is slightly curved which I needed for my electric guitar neck! (If your capo is straight and the E strings are not being pressed properly get this capo!) I really like the golden color on my light wood color fretboard. Seems super sturdy and good built quality, exactly what I needed

However, it can be done, but just not as easily as a steel string. It is far from impossible. I myself am a steel string player, but every now and then, I dip into fingerpicking with a nylon.Overall, I'd recommend it. That and the Kyser Capos. If you play a classical guitar, I'd suggest Kyser. Steel string, either one. They both work wonderfully.
