This pump is a workhorse!
This pump is a great workhorse in keeping our pool cover free of water during the winter months. The cord length was sufficient to reach the middle of our 24 ft. round pool. The delivery was next day at no additional cost. Highly recommend.

Gets the job done!
It's fairly simple in structure and not super powerful, but overall it gets the job done! While you will need to move it around to the various pockets of water gathered on the cover, it works pretty reliably. I didn't need to weigh it down as other reviewers had indicated.

Worked great for a couple of weeks. Then broke. Company denying I bought it from them.
I purchased this pool cover pump last year, and used it for the first time when I closed my pool this season. This cover pump was very easy to set up, and would turn on automatically to pump water off the cover, and would shut off when the water got below a certain level (which there wasn't much water left on the cover). It worked great. However, after 2 weeks of use, the pump stopped working. I even took it apart to make sure nothing was stuck in the impeller (and there wasn't). I was very happy with it while it was working, but to spend almost $60.00 on a pump that doesn't last more than a couple of weeks is very upsetting. I would appreciate either a refund or a replacement from the company. UPDATE: TOOL DAILY DIRECT the company that sold this on Amazon replied to this and said they have no record of the sale. Please check thier other stores. It clearly states thier name as seller and the comments were added to the link in Amazon from the sellers product page. Buyer beware of this company... Just right for a pool cover
Works well for draining rain water from an in-ground pool cover. The float valve has a narrow range and draws down to about an inch of water. I used the provided 1/2" discharge tube and put the outlet in the trench at the end of the cover, which is connected to a storm drain. The relatively low flow rate is just right for this application. I recommend putting the pump in a filter sock to keep debris from the clogging the float valve or pump. I put the pump near the center of the cover together with some extra weight to make a low point in the cover that the water drains toward.

Not just for pool covers.
I live in an old house with an elderly HVAC unit with a loonnngg drain line that's prone to clogging. After having the system back up and flood underneath one too many times, I came up with a unique solution. I placed a small, blow-up kiddie wading pool under the unit, but would end up having to a wet vac to drain the pool and the water made the vacuum really heavy to move outside and drain. Then I saw this unit. I bought it, used a short section of garden hose to attach it to a PVC to hose threaded adaptor, popped that over the HVAC PVC drain clean out opening, put the pump into the pool and plugged it in. Worked like a charm. Not only did it pump out the water, it did it with enough pressure to clean out the drain line. Because it is inside and is not in the elements, I can leave it in the bottom of the pool. Just in case, I placed a couple of water alarms outside the pool. Never had a single problem. If there was ever a drain line slow down and enough water accumulated in the pool to activate the unit, it came on. In fact, at the beginning of the summer season, we started unplugging the pump, adding water to the pool, and then plugging it in just to blast out the drain line. This little gem will prove to be handy in any situation where you need a portable means to pump out water. As long as the water is deep enough to activate the float switch, you're good to go.

Works very well
I purchased this pump three years ago, and it has worked very well. I just re-purchased it again because it stopped working, but I would highly recommend this pump. I use it for my above ground pool. I have a tarp on it and it pumps the water From my pool cover very well.

worked really fine ... for a month
This pump was great for removing the standing water from my pool cover, but it did not last. I did not realize that it did NOT have an automatic shut off switch. When all of the water was gone it kept running. The bearing surface the the armature of the motor spins on is plastic, instead of metal or better yet a real set of ball or roller bearings. This plastic overheated quickly and melted and the pump ceased to function. I was very disappointed since I paid what I consider to be a lot for it ($64.00).To improve the unit add an auto shut off switch and real bearings.
