Hands Free - Clean as Can Be
I canāt believe my life has come to this, but I am writing a review abut diaper pails. But, I feel that my gained knowledge about #2s is worthy of being passed on, and although it might sound a little silly, I have become strangely enamored with my diaper pail, the Dekor. We have 5 kids, and over the years, Iāve changed a lot of diapers. The first diaper pail we got years ago was a diaper genie, and I was never a fan. My biggest complaint was that after you had changed the diaper, you had to push said stinky, gross, and sometimes - otherworldly large diaper thru a small hole on the genie⦠squishing it to fit into a small hole would often cause, letās call it āspillageā, that would get poop on your hand, on the pail, and generally places where you donāt want poop. Remember, you are doing this while holding your bundle of everlasting joy in one arm while reaching down to stuff the otherworldly large diaper into an unfathomably small hole. Not an easy task. And then, we discovered the Dekor. It rocks. Why? Itās HANDS FREE. Game changer. It has a foot pedal that opens the pail, then you simply drop the diaper thru the trap door. Thatās it! Let me tell you, when itās 3 a.m., and you are a zombie from lack of sleep, you need this process to be as simple as possible. I shudder to think the number of diapers that I have changed over the years, but this diaper pail makes it a lot easier than it was with the Genie. There is another pail that we looked at, the Ubbi, that cost quite a bit more and is made of metal. I looked at in in the store, and it also requires bending over, and sliding a door open, inserting a diaper, and then sliding it closed when finished. Kind of a pain to do every time you change a diaper. It is made of metal, so it shouldnāt absorb odors like the diaper genie did, but the Dekor is made of ABS that doesnāt absorb odors either, so I donāt see the big deal. Another think about the metal pails. In my research (isnāt it a bit sad that Iāve done research? ā We really need to get out more), the manufacturer says to clean with a dry cloth. No cleaning products or even water. Ok, that is just gross. With Dekor, clean with whatever household cleaner you want, letās kill any germs that are hanging around.Bags. Different pails have different systems. Some use household kitchen bags, some use cartridges of bags. Dekor comes with a loaded refill, and in my opinion, that is the way to go. You use what you need, and then switch out the bag. We tried using a kitchen bag instead of the refill in the Dekor, and it was ok, but honestly, we preferred the refill. Itās always there and ready to go, you only use what you need, and in the long run I bet it costs about the same.Stink. Stank. Stunk. ā (Prepare for more wisdom). Poop stinks. Shocking isnāt it? There's a reason every diaper pail that's been around more than a couple months has a bunch of 1 star reviews. Go look at all the other product. Notice they're all about 3.5 or 4 stars. Then click on the 1 star link for each of them and you'll see what I mean. You'll see dozens of people talk about how each product is terrible and every pail sticks to high heaven. Mostly that's because people have unrealistic expectations that buying a diaper pail means you never have to smell poopy diapers. This is compounded by the fact that the poop only starts to smell once your bundle of everlasting joy begins eating solids. So when you first bring the baby home you think everything is great and the pail is working perfectly and then all of the sudden the pail is terrible and horrible and is broken... Well it's not broken, your baby's poop just didn't used to stink and now it does. Here's the truth, no matter which on you buy, you're gonna smell poop. whether it's when you open the lid or remove the bag, they all allow a little stank to escape. Dekor is no different, it just allows less than the others. Sometimes we go a few days between changing the bag, sometimes we switch it out quicker due to one of those otherworldly poops. The box for the Dekor says it can hold 60 diapers. We might have gone close to that with some newborn diapers, but once the poop got serious, we never waited that long.Reading back over this, I canāt believe I just wrote a manifesto on diaper pails. But, I thought I would share some of the knowledge I have gained over thousands of diapers. I just think the Dekor works. Itās the easiest to use of all the diaper pails by far, and handles the smell. I highly recommend it.

Works better than you could even imagine!
This diaper pail truly does keep the smell contained! We had not been using this pale for a while because of a move, but recently discovered some old dirty diapers inside and had no idea that they were there until I opened it up to put a new liner in once it was opened, the stench was awful, but until we completely opened it, we had no idea there was anything inside let alone anything that had been rotting for who knows how long. So this is definitely worth all the monies!

Poop Can For the Win
Never thought I'd want or need one of these. As a first timer, I thought a trash can specifically for baby waste was silly .. "just take out the trash" I thought .. 6 months later I changed my mind lol this thing is great. Easy to install the bags, built in bag cutter underneath and masks the smell VERY well, especially when they're younger. Once they hit 1+ .. you might wanna change the bags sooner than "full" lol. But I love that about it too. No need to feel like you're wasting bags by changing it before it's full because you just open the bottom door, pull the bag down, cut the top with the built in cutter, tie a knot in the top and throw it out. Then tie what's now the bottom of the "new" bag, pull it down, shut the door, new bag š not once have I gotten .. "matter" on my hands changing these and surprisingly, my can has no residue on it anywhere either. If you're reluctant to buy a can, don't be. Once your kid starts purĆ©es and solids, you're gonna want a poop can š

Traps odors well, easy to change out bag etc. durable
we have used one of these for about 9 years for adult diapers. This purchase was to replace the old one which finally had odors embedded in it after using for so many years. However, most people use these for baby diapers, and will keep it around as long as we do.I love how easy it is to empty and replace the bag. I like how the dekor PLUS it is larger than the regular version. I like how it traps odors well. It blend in with the bathroom well

Keeps the smells contained!
I hate walking into my kids room and smelling dirty diapers. I am extremely sensitive to smells and needed a diaper pail that would contain them. I had the original size when I had my oldest a it did the job well, so now with 2 under 2 we needed a larger pail and I knew exactly which one I was getting. Worth every penny!!! Using disposable diapers it takes DAYS for the pail to get full. I usually end up changing the bag before the pail is full because it can only go about 2-3 days before it starts smelling. So capacity for disposable diapers is almost too much. We do, however, usually do cloth diapers and are only using disposables during this adjustment period, so when we switch back to cloth, I will update on how long it takes to fill (as they are a bit bulkier).I posted pics of the size comparison from the original because that was a big thing for me when I went to purchase this. It is quite a bit bigger and wider than the original size.Great diaper pail, the lock feature to keep my toddler out of it is great. It seems durable and if itās still made with the same quality as my last one - I got that second hand (itās 5 years old) and Iām still using it to this day - itās going to last a long time.So why four stars? The trash bag compartment, the front part that you open to take out the trash, can be difficult to close. It often seems as though Iāve closed it only to find it has popped open later on in the day, thus letting the smell of dirty diapers fill the room. You have to be very intentional about closing it tight and making sure it has clicked into place. This sounds simple enough, but when you have a very busy house, itās something that is easily missed and can feel frustrating. Other than that, no complaints.

Better than diaper genies
Super easy to use, snd keeps odors well under control when the lid is closed. The interior lid is a much better design than a diaper genie, and the plus size keeps the need to change the bag to a minimum.
