Get the Audyssey computer software and use this Mic
$200 per processor/receiver seems like a lot for the Audyssey MultEQ software but the results are worth it. I've used the built in system with the provided mic. I've upgraded to the $20 mobile app and used that. I finally upgraded to the $200 PC software. The app is definitely worth it and the least anyone should do. But the PC software makes an astonishing difference and gives you complete control over all the things you didn't like about the built-in system and the mobile app. If you spend thousands to upgrade your speakers, your receiver, your pre-amp and power amp, don't cheap out here at this final step. Get the calibrated mic and the PC software. You'll be glad you did. It's unfortunate they don't have a Mac version of the software but do what you have to do and run it on Windows with this mic.Maybe I shouldn't assume everyone knows the calibration is only useful with the Audyssey PC software. The mobile app has no place to input the serial number and get the calibration file. Only the PC software makes use of the calibration. Also the PC software corrects a bug in their distance calculation algorithm and provides distances that are about 7/8 of the distance indicated by the mobile app and built in system. This may be part of the reason it sounds so much better. The timing is finally calculated correctly for all your speakers which enhances imaging or the illusion of sounds coming in perfect clarity from specific locations in the room.

This has undoubtedly been my best purchase in recent times.
I recently purchased this calibration microphone, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the first use, its performance has been nothing short of excellent. The accuracy and precision it offers are truly remarkable, making it an indispensable tool for any serious audio calibration setup. The microphone captures even the subtlest nuances, ensuring a flawless calibration process every time. Pairing it with my existing audio equipment (Marantz Cinema 70s) was effortless, and the results have consistently been spot-on with Audyssey MultEQ-X.This has undoubtedly been my best purchase in recent times. For anyone looking to elevate their audio calibration game, I cannot recommend this microphone highly enough. It’s worth every penny!

Same mic, just calibrated.
Yes it stinks you should buy this if you got Audyssey X, but it does work well. It is the same one you got with your Marantz or Denon, but it is calibrated and getting the cal file and into the software was smooth and painless. You can use the basic mic with Audyssey X, but if you are spending $200 on it you might as well use the calibrated mic. And yes Audyssey X is absolutely worth it. Just wish the mic was $50 for what it is or let me use my UMIK-1 instead of this. These mics work well so still 5 stars.

Significant improvement over standard supplied mic with Denon AVC
I’d recommend this to higher end Denon and Marantz owners as being calibrated it will delivery a better speaker and room setup. It’s only worth this together with the MultEQ-X software from Audyssey that can use its calibrated values. Depending on the cost of your AVC/R this will be a sound investment.

Buyer Beware - Only Compatible with Audyssey Equipment.
This is as the title says - beware! I found out after purchasing that they do not give the calibration files they have out with just the software or even a purchase. This microphone WILL NOT come with any calibration file, and this is not clearly listed at all in the description. It is deceptively written that you just have to use their software, not that you need any additional hardware.Whilst it does say that it is meant for specific AVRs, it does not say they're *necessary*. This is why I find the description to be highly deceptive.

Great finetuning your Audyssey setup
I’m not exactly sure if my speakers are sounding better after using this mic in stead of the stock mic, but the graphs in The Audyssey Multeq-x app looked smoother after using the calibrated mic.
