Metal. Enough said. Not cheap plastic that will break or lose teeth. This holds my hair so well and beautifully that I only needed one, so I gave the other 3 away to friends who always have their hair up in jaw clips (which is a hazard when driving if in an accident with the headrest). The beauty of these things is that you can make them as loose or as tight as you like and the comb lays FLAT against your head. This means you can lay down while wearing it to take a nap, in the dentist chair, getting a massage, or in an airplane and still keep your hair pulled together nicely. LOVE IT!

The metal hair fork clip did not come with directions so I have no idea how to use it. I will have to try to find it on You Tube so that I can use it. There are 4 of them; two sizes and they are metal so they will last. Hopefully I can make it work because it will be a great way to put my hair up when it's hot or when I want an up do for a night out or special occasion.

These are well-made combs that probably work great for women with truly thick and heavy hair. However, even though I ordered for FINE hair, not even the small combs work well for me. The large ones are, for this lady, a complete joke, because they don't have enough heavy, thick hair to hang fast. They just fall out. I'm disappointed, but instead of returning them, I'll gift them to my niece, who has one of the thickest manes of hair I've ever seen. I think they will work for her when she wants a quick updo. If they fall out of her hair, as they did from mine, I'll let all of you know.

The tines are the perfect length. The shape of the tines hold my fine, thick hair tight. The metal means they won't break if you drop them or even step on them.
