Organic loose green tea from Japan
Organic green tea from Japan. Loose tea leaves and pleasant taste, and health benefits to boot. Have already purchased a second bag.

A good choice
This Kukicha tea tastes almost as good as any others I have had. A robust flavor, plastic neutral packaging, imported from Japan. Shipping was quick. I will purchase again

Outstanding quality and flavor
For those who enjoy green tea, this is an excellent choice. I have been drinking Haiku sencha green tea for over 20 years but then discovered this loose leave sencha-matcha green tea and I absolutely love it!

Poor quality :(
I am a seasoned green tea drinker, and have tried many quality brands, but unfortunately you get what you pay for, and this isn’t a high-quality sencha tea. I’ve been steeping at 80° for 1-2 minutes, and the colour comes out weirdly brownish and tastes incredibly bitter, burnt and not fresh at all. Normally, when you buy a high-quality sencha tea, the colour is really vibrant and light green and tastes fresh, grassy and slightly sweet. Definitely won’t repurchase.

You get what you pay for
The stems are larger than what I’m used to (less diffusion) and generally less potent. Makes a mediocre cup of KukiCha, not as nutty and earthy as I’d like it to be. On the bright side, it was relatively cheap and it’s also organic

A great buy, bulk, organic, tastes fine; 4 stars because it should be labeled "roasted twig tea"
I don't understand how the same company (Great Eastern Sun Haiku brand) sells a product labeled "Hojicha" and a separate product labeled "Kukicha," but they're both Hojicha. (I haven't tried their Hojicha, so maybe it's a different leaf cut (not twig tea, perhaps), but much Hojicha IS roasted twig tea. The product being reviewed is more aptly named Hojicha. Thank you to the reviewer who pointed this out.Now that's out of the way, it's a decent hojicha. Well worth the price, and a bargain for the amount you get.If you want ultra-top-grade hojicha made from specialty sencha or gyokuro, you'll need to pay more than 5 times as much, but I'd say this tea is around 80% as good as stuff that costs 5 times more. Not a bad tradeoff. You can steep it, simmer or boil it, it's always good. A welcome addition to any serious tea drinker's repertoire.
