Great looking unit!
Looks great! The screen is so much bigger then the stock on. Though I was really looking forward to the off road maps and the cool looking off road screen that the x409 unit has. It was my understanding that this unit was an upgraded version of the x409 and it’s not. It’s vary basic doesn’t even have GPS but comes with a GPS antenna? Why. For the price not worth it for basic features. Installer was actually easier than I was expecting. It took me 2 hours following the Alpine install video.Update:Unit is overheating and shutting down after 3-5 minutes after starting the car.

doesnt work all the time
this radio constantly dies during drivimg . Whjen it does there is no disPLAY OR SOUND OR COMPLETELY FREEZES. total waste of money, As noted no stand alone gps. when in moabit totally lost everything . Look elsewhere, customer support from alpine very poor. as stated no gps which they said it had. wish i had not spent the money. when it does work the sound is great

Close, but not quite there yet.
I had this rating at a 3, but lately a few more things have been making me rethink it so dropped it to a 2 until they fix the software issues.New issue (only seems to apply to Android Auto) - Alpine buffers your music to help with dead zones which is nice, except the music commands are in the same buffer. What that means is after an hour of driving when I press Song Skip, or Pause or anything like that, it can take as much as 5 minutes for the radio to actually commit the command. So I'm riding with my kids and a song I don't want them to hear comes on, I hit "skip song", but it keeps playing... and playing... and playing.. and then as much as 5 minutes later it suddenly skips songs. This should be a fairly easy fix, and I've had other head units that do not have this issue so Alpine needs to update their software to resolve it (I have the most decent software 5.0.001, and it's still an issue). So far looks great in the jeep and works pretty well, but I do have a complaint that is just obnoxious. I pay attention when I'm driving, so things that flicker or distract that I see in the corner of my eye cause me to look so I can react to them. Well rather than using the Day/Night sensor that the Jeep already has built in which works wonderfully, they decided to put their own sensor on the front of this. The sensor is too sensitive and there is no way to adjust it. So I'm driving along on a nice sunny day, I pass under a large tree and *flick* night mode. Then out from under the tree *flick again* back to day mode.I can set it to be either undimmed or dimmed all the time, but as anyone with a jeep can guess, the night mode is too dark to see when the jeep is open. And the light mode is almost blinding at night. For the price, this oversight is a bit disappointing since I know most much cheaper stereos don't have this issue.

Nice but lacking legacy features
The screen is nice and wireless CarPlay is handy but the omission of the accessory controls is a huge miss.

Absolutely useless head unit
If you are a serious off roader don't buy this unit. It only uses android auto for maps and music. So if your in the middle nowhere and no cell communication you now have a useles piece of equipment. This unit looks great was not dedign for real Jeeper's. The old 409 unit had built in gps and was really off road designed.Remember buyer beware if your a pavement princess your fine if a real off roader or overlander your dead lost.

Don't waste your money
First this unit has less features then a stock factory unit. Alpine will lie to you. There is no navigation. No internal storage. Not user friendly. All features are ran off carplay.Don't waste your money. The fit and finish is great. That's where it ends. I'm constantly on the phone with tech support. This is not a quality unit
