researched for ages, but couldn't find enough ...
... so almost based on the one review on Amazon on made the jump and bought this one. Unlike the other reviewer I have nothing to compare it to, so maybe changing the blades is more fiddly than other makes, but I don't know! My experience of using this saw for a few weeks is it is really easy to use and the results have been fab. For someone who has never used a scroll saw before to make things they are immediately happy with - and some sell - cant be bad. The dust collections works OK, sure there is still a lot of dust about, but even I expected that. Changing the blades seems pretty easy to me - especially if you are using the peg end versions. Feels a high quality bit of kit too - solid German engineering at a reasonable price is my summary. Most of the reviews I came across where pushing towards the professional end or were American - so I had to almost take a punt, and pretty pleased I did. Delivery was quick considering it came from Germany to my door in Ireland and all for a very reasonable fee - come on everyone else if these guys can do it, so can you!

Well made and rapidly delivered
Ordered Saturday and arrived Wednesday from Germany. First impressions are it is solidly built especially for the price. It only took 5 minutes to assemble and get it working. The blower works well and position adjustment is easy. It is vibration free even before I bolt it down, probably due to the heavy cast base. Changing blades seems easy enough and you can just take the top of the blade off to feed it through your work so less fiddling underneath the table. I have only tried the pinned blades that came with it, I have some Olson pinless to try yet. It came with an EU power plug and the warning stickers are in German however I don't consider this to diminish the product, if that was all that was wrong with the poor quality tat that are passed off as tools then I would be a happy man. To summarise, worth paying the extra 30 quid over the badge engineered models for a decent tool.

Would be better if it had a foot paddle control
Would be better if it had a foot paddle control, instead of switch + air hose should blow dust away from you, not towards you,... Great machine though

Well made
Been a fan of Proxxon machines since buying the DH40 thicknesser, my all time best ever buy. Then the table saws and surface planer. Can't make a comparison with other makes of scroll saws, but it feels good, well-made and money well spent.Glad there was a dust collection port; the blurbs hardly mention it, but with the fine dust it makes it's important to me.Read the instructions: I broke two blades in the first few minutes then read the instructions more carefully - don't tighten the screws for pin-ended blades! The following blades lasted days, even very fine pinless ones.Get a good posture; I started with my face practically at eye-level with the work. You will get a lot of dust from the blower like that. Stand up straight looking down on the work. It's more relaxed and control is better.I'd prefer push buttons for starting and stopping - the toggle switches are hard to find in an emergency stop. Also I'd welcome a variable speed. The difference between the slow and fast speeds is rather sudden.

great saw
This is a good little saw is very quiet and very little or no vibration. the blades that came with it were not of great quality and did break very easily. I bought some top quality ones from the USA and that made the saw even better to use.It is quite heavy and gives it a feel of quality build, I have used it without being bolted to the work bench and it doesn't budge at all. Although this came from Germany it arrived after 5 days, the postage was very reasonable and it was well packed.

great buy
I am a recently retired joiner and missed using my woodworking skills I thought I would try a new for of woodwork namely scrolling after a bit of research I decided to buy this machine I am very glad I did it has at this moment give me new woodworking experiences it is a solid machine the only problems I found are it came with a two pin plug for which I had to buy an earthed adaptor for and the blade holding bolts tended to sheer of these I renewed at a very cheap cost overall I think this is a brilliant machine for the price and it is giving me so much pleasure well worth buying

A Hegner at half the price!!!!!!!!
As a former Head of a Design faculty, I made sure each D&T work shop contained at least 3 Hegner scroll saws. Great machines paid for by the local education council. However, my funds did not run to Hegner prices. After reviewing available scroll saws up to £200, the Proxxon (280920 seemed chance worthy. I have used this machine constantly for the past month with Olson blades cutting mainly softwood and MDF. I can assure future purchasers they will not be disappointed. One great advantage over Hegner machines(besides the price)is the ability to change blabes quickly and with ease. No need to remove the blade holder to feed the blade through predilled holes. Simply release the tension, unscrew the blade from top clamp, feed the blade through a drilled hole, reclamp the blade, retension and your away.I must admit I have not tried the slower speed on metal yet. A brilliant machine Proxxon. It gets my vote.
