Q: Why is it better to use this product to lower PH vs using vinegar? Thank you

I cannot say for this product as I've been unable yet to find *what* is in this product. As for vinegar: vinegar is acetic acid, usually 5%. When any acid reacts with any base, there will be products. When vinegar (acetic acid) reacts with calcium carbonate (usually the component of water which makes it "hard" and, I believe, alkaline) it has products (of course). For example, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and vinegar react to produce CO2, H2O, and calcium acetate. The CO2 is gaseous (hence the bubbles), the H2O is water (no kidding?), and the calcium acetate is...? Searching online I find information that calcium acetate may be beneficial to plants (everyone should do their own reading). So, I don't see why you (or I) cannot use vinegar other than that, if we do that, we don't keep the pH Down sellers in business. On the other hand, sulfuric acid is commonly used to lower pH. Sulfuric acid will have different products from the chemical reaction. I do not know what those products are, but they must not be too bad as sulfuric acid is commonly used and, according to my reading, the sulfur we add to soil to lower the pH, does so by being converted to sulfuric acid. Lots to this stuff. But, for me, I'll try vinegar.

Nope this stuff works great with living soil

It is used to acidify the water which is a change in the ph of the water and the water, in turn, will be more acidic. If you mean can you use it directly on dirt, then no.
