Good quality hair straightener
I stopped using the steam option because, well frankly I’m too lazy to mess with it, but the straightener itself is a really good product. I like the thicker plates gets the job done faster. This is my second or third hot tools product and I’ve loved them all. I’ve purchased much more expensive flat irons before only to have them break these never have. Definitely recommend

Impressed
I’ve been seeing videos of reviews for this tool and it made me skeptical. I have long, wavy and thick hair. I was truly impressed by the first use. It saves me time when I’m styling my hair. However, to style my bangs I used a smaller flat iron, no problem. For the moment I’m very impressed with the results. I think you have to learn your hair type and see what heat and steam setting will work for you.

Works well.
My hairdresser recommended this steam straightener so I got it a while back. The steam option is a great feature. I don’t notice a huge difference from a regular straightener but I’m no hair styling maestro. My hairdresser recommended adding a little bit of product to the distilled water reservoir (like Dede) for extra smoothing. Took one star off because it can leak a little and is a bit heavy. But, price is super good and I would recommend it.

I wish I had bought this sooner
I purchased this after my original flat iron died. I had a Chi iron that was at least a decade old. I wanted something that could easily flatten or curl my hair without having to do weird flat iron turns, if you know what I mean. I love that the steam is optional on this too, and that I can flatten or curl my hair with it so easily. It’s my new go to hair styler.**Update 9/11/24I was on vacation and was packing in a hurry, so I made the mistake of running water over the barrel to cool it down and it stopped working - totally my fault, and no it wasn’t plugged in. But I’ve already received my replacement. This is the only hair tool I use anymore. 🩵

It works okay.
It is an okay straightener. It isn't the best for thick hair though.

Not worth the money
I tried both this and the $200+ Steam iron and as a hairdresser I don't really see the hype. This particular model leaked water when in use and the steam setting would turn on and off through out styling. Which defeats the purpose of the entire product. The 1.5" iron is only good for straightening shoulder length (or shorter) hair. So unless you have long hair, you wouldnt be able to curl or wave your hair with this product.I contacted Hot Tools about the alternating steam setting and was reassured that that isn't normal for this tool and was promptly sent a new one that did the same thing. I think it is normal for this tool.anyway, was unimpressed

LOVE IT!
This is my first ever flat iron, and I simply don't know how I lived without it. My hair is very fine, with only a little wave and flip at the ends. I use this on the lowest heat setting with steam, and it works so fast and easily. When I first got it, it would snag my hair, but now it never does that. Which is really impressive, because my hair is so fine, every hair tool I have ever used snagged my hair. I really like the steam setting, since I feel it is less damaging to my hair than dry irons. I love it!

So good for the price!
My hair is naturally pretty straight but I have a LOT of it. I used a chi straightener for years but it wasn’t doing a great job and would take a long time. This thing is amazing for the price!!! I love the steam feature and the wide plates make the job quick even for someone with a lot of hair! 10/10 recommend
