Hitachi Ultrastar Rocks!
Terrific hard drive, very quiet, fast, and hopefully reliable. I've had a few hard drive failures after 2 or 3 years of light, home use, all run of the mill drives. This is the first "enterprise" drive I've owned. I was put off enterprise drives before by the price hike. This drive was only 20 to 30% more expensive than ordinary "domestic" quality drives and has a 5 year warranty. The Ultrastar was easy to install and set up. Delivery was quick and the drive was well packaged. Great value!

Works fine but noisy
It works but just way too noisy. Other people said that it was quiet by I would disagree.

Failed within a month
I have had this Hard Drive for a month and it has failed me. My computer has slowed down, programs are unresponsive and I spent over £80 on a 2TB hard drive that only worked correctly for a month. Absolutely disappointed.

Very nice.
I had a secondary internal WD Caviar 1TB drive that developed bad sectors after 3 years. I liked how quiet Caviar Green drives are, so I bought a 2TB replacement from the same family, but it arrived completely non functional. I regarded that as two too many WD failures, so I decided to try another brand. This one is not as quiet as the Caviar Green, but the noise level is low and acceptable, even reassuring. Also the data rate is twice as fast - 50MB/s for a combined read/write, compared to 25MB/s with the old drive. One other thing worth noting is that this drive still uses 512 byte sectors, so using it with XP is no problem, and nor is it a problem if you restore a "misaligned" Acronis partition onto it.

Good HDD, cheap price
Seems to run fine, good speeds my only comment so far would be the loud clicking when hard drive is in use especially when writing.

Very disappointed, 1 Dead Drive & 1 Defective Drive
I am exceptionally disappointed with these Hard Drives, I bought two with the intention of setting up a Raid array. The first Drive failed to power/spin up - it was dead. The second drive was flagged up by the S.M.A.R.T. system of the BIOS as defective immediately on Boot-up and consequently the same message was flagged up by Windows when I tried to install it, both messages told me to back up the drive, remove it and contact the Computer supplier.I contacted Bipra through Amazon and they immediately issued a return label and the Drives have now been returned to them, I am now waiting for replacement Drives.I will update this review when I have received the replacements and they have been operating for a period of time.Update on November 18th, 2014.The replacement drives were delivered within 5 days and to date they have worked flawlessly.

Reliable
I've been running 2 of these disks in a USB 3 enclosure for about a year now. These disks are not the most quiet out there, but that's not to say they are noisy, no. It's just that in a normal room you'd likely hear them if you listen. Other than that, they are proving to be very reliable so far. The read and write speeds are very good. Overall, highly recommended.

Re-worked drive
First worry was the anti-static bag the drive was in was NOT the usual Hitachi bag, second point for concern was that the manufacture date on the main label was covered by a new small serial number label, suggesting that this might be a re-worked drive. Drive showed no bad sectors, and and zero power on hours, but did run rather hot at 47 degrees Celcius/Centigrade.
