Big fan of the new format
Having read reviews of recently published Lonely Planet guide books, I know I’m in the minority when I say I really love the new format.Caveat: I’m using the book to pre-plan a trip, so I have access to the internet to get more information on things like getting around (definitely more light-touch than the old format).Likewise, I really like the introduction of QR codes to websites but obviously these become redundant if you plan to use the book as a directory during a trip and have limited internet or go off-grid.

Not very useful
Bought this for trip planning, but it failed to deliver. Tends to highlight the top spots with pictures and very little in the way of balanced text; you get the impression it doesn’t really tell the whole story. Buy its competitor instead

Pointless guide, new LP format is useless and devoid of content
Please go back to the old style content so that the guide is actually helpful to plan a trip. None buys a written guide expecting to find something akin to Instagram or TickTock. Really useless guide, no proper maps nor info to help you when travelling. Just a never ending list of. “Experiences” that are either pointless or impractical as impossible to actually find.Buy the Rough Guide or Routard instead!
