A lot easier than expected
So like others, I had this idea to insulate the garage doors with this product. It's really easy. The first thing upon receiving the order was that it was going to be too wide of a strip for the garage door. Like most garage doors I've seen in the past few weeks, however, it's the perfect size. The reason is that my garage door also has a curved pocket on the top and bottom. It's probably about 18-20" of door, and another 4-6" extra that will fit into the U like pocket at the top and the bottom. This allowed me to push the material in and keep it taut so that it won't fall out. So, this is the perfect width of product, you just need to cut the length of the product to the width of your garage door panels.Like others, I did use double sided carpet tape, although I did so because everyone else did. I don't think that is really necessary, if you have the U shaped pockets at the edges. There's no way it moves and so it did very little. The garage door now moves a bit slower, not much -- it's really not that heavy --- probably adds 20 lbs to the garage door. Also most garage doors have an adjustment to deal with tension. I haven't run into that yet.The material gives me an R3 on the garage door, according to the package. Alumninum R value according to one website is less than 1. Walls are R15/R19ish. So, R3 is better, but not much, but I think it's better quality will be keeping out radiant heat (not measured by R value) -- which is more summer-like when the sun is baking the garage door. At least that's what neighbors have seen using similar products. Our garages face the sun in Texas.Lastly, as for quantity, it took about 1.75 packages of this to cover a double garage door.

Lightweight insulation, great for garage door
I had a smaller roll of this from years ago which I had attached to my heat ducts coming out of the furnace, & that reduced heat loss. My garage door gets afternoon-evening sun & needed some kind of insulation that would not interfere with the garage door opener... it couldn't be too heavy. I measured & cut pieces to fit the contours of the door, & used a staple gun to attach it to the wooden door. I tried to do it myself, but ended up needing help, as it was too much for 1 person to do alone (my arms got tired). I think it reduced the temperature by 5-10 degrees in summer, & in winter, seems to help with insulating as well. It comes in a big roll, & we used the top of a chest freezer to lay it out on, & the straight edges of the freezer made it easy to measure & cut straight lines. The box (with some holes cut in it) made a great cat play box.

You need this for RV or home - excellent thermal insulation and UV protection.
First time, Amazon shipped one roll with a crushed dent in it. Not the packaging or shipping fault, box was fine. Thank you Amazon for a no hassle exchange - your policy here is gold standard!Excellent product, highly recommend!!! I cut this with shears and fitted to my RV windows and it immediately blocked the outside cold. I felt the difference in 10 mins, while working in my RV at night. Wow! Talk about insulation. In RV window application, if window does not open, then cut to fit inside of window frame as there is a hollow section it can tuck into. You will have to trim corners to fit window curved edges. Tuck in, and pull out easily when not needed. For windows where you slide them open, cut to fit outside of window, so cut larger by 1-2 inches around window size. If you cut to window size, you will have to use velcro on edges of window glass to hold them up. If you cut to outside, stick velcro to walls and stick this on.Works with blinds or curtains. Easy to remove. Immediate insulation. Good blackout curtains for boondocking in stealth mode. Cuts out heat and cold and UV damage. Does not permit good air circulation through windows, so not the best blackout system for hot summer nights when you want windows open. But the big roll, and use leftover pieces to insulate RV doors, windows, etc. Good thermal insulation, but not for noise blocking, not dense enough. Also very good for house windows in winter or to block out hot sun in summer. I am considering sticking some on top of AC on roof to shield from hot sun. Highly recommend for home and RV use everywhere. If you want this to look pretty, you can sew some cloth edging around outside of panel to 'hem' it.

Easy to handle
I purchased this to cover my window glass in the cold weather. Cut to fit and hold on with alien tape then the pieces are reusable for next season. Just slowly peel off the plastic tape and reuse your reflective material next season.

Works well
I've been wanting to insulate my garage door because it gets the morning sun which causes it to be very hot in summer. I looked at several kinds and finally decided to order the Reflectix. It went on super easy and I had the double door covered in a couple of hours. The 24 in width is just perfect for one of the door rectangles with enough to tuck in the grooves above and below. All I had to do was measure the length. I used double sided carpet tape to secure the reflectix to the door. EASY, EASY, EASY!! Now for the good and the bad. I gave it 4 stars because it does work--but what I didn't think about was what happens when I bring in my car with a hot engine and a body thats been baking in the sun for a few hours. It throws off a lot of heat which the reflectix holds in the garage. That will be OK for winter, but in summer not so much. I will say that it probably kept the garage cooler than it would have otherwise been. On days I didn't use the car, the temp in the garage stayed very comfortable. So it works, but not like I had imagined.

This stuff works great! Highly recommended 👌
We used this on our skoolie getting it ready for the cold 🥶 up here at 7700' in slv colorado. In the picture is where we used it to insulate our freshwater tank. We also used it on the doors and also the windshield. This stuff makes a huge differenceon retaining heat or ac. Easy to work with also. I recommend using aluminum to seal it that's what we did. ✌️
