Splendid isolation - at a price
The book presents 40 holiday locations in the UK - largely on or near the coast, looking at the map - which are isolated and quiet, even completely off-grid in some cases. The accommodation comes in various forms, cottages, small lodges, cabins and campsites and more, and allow for varying numbers of guests. Being a National Trust produced book, a large proportion, 23 out of the 40, are NT properties. The book is very nicely presented with superb photography. There could have been a little better organisation - the map on page 9 shows you the locations but not the page numbers to turn to, so you have to go to the index to look up the page number, and then look in a separate index to find the website of the location. You do have to be fairly well-heeled though. I had a quick scan through a handful of the websites and while some can be in the £150/night sort of range we're talking over £400 a night for some of these places in peak season (albeit for places with more than 1 bedroom), and there's a minimum number of nights stay too in all of the ones I looked at. So probably only consider this book if you have the wherewithal for those sort of prices. For the 23 NT properties you could just look at their website of course.

My travel guide for 2023/2024
The media could not be loaded. I love this book that has chosen 40 amazing places to visit in the UK.It is my travel guide for 2023 and 2024. I am going to visit all the places, because I love how well they are presented in this book, and that they are described in a friendly way and not like a travel guide. The places are described with the use of their history in a truly magical way that is highlighting the beauty and uniqueness of each of the locations. It is also telling me what I can do with my time there to get the most out of these beautiful, nature surrounded, pieces of paradise.I love the style this book is written in and the high-quality photography included with each location. I hope that they will write a second book, because I know that there are more than 40 places like it in the UK, and I would really like to plan my holidays for 2025 with it.

Not for me!
Although well laid out, and lots of info/pics, this was not for me. I don’t use a tent and most of the properties will be outside of my budget. With the publishing of this book, the places are going to be fully booked for those whose budgets are way up there in the high-earners!
