JUNGHANS Max Bill Chronoscope Bauhaus Watch

Long story for my watch history: I started with Seiko watches, because they are great, and at the price point I beat them up every few years and got another. Tried to be nicer to them, then the battery runs out; get tired of taking it to a jeweler so got a Citizen Echo drive; worked great for a while; then somehow not as much, tried to reset it a few times and all the functions still don't work. Then came the Samsung watch--yea! Beautiful watch + I get to read my texts and see who is calling without getting my phone out. Then comes all spam all the time, and then updates so my watch is never on, and it is spam anyhow so no sense answering the phone. I thought, "hey, I can't tell the time anymore; which is why I had a watch in the first place... ?" (well you can, just turn over the phone watch and push the button...) But why cant I JUST HAVE A TIME PIECE! Back to 1950 and a wind up watch; who would have thought. But, don't want any piece of junk, maybe a Swiss watch.. cha-ching, and a little glitzy too. Hey, there are German watches, they seem outstanding and not the glitz and not overpriced. That's how I got to this one.. It does the Chronograph (read stopwatch); probably won't use it much; but it is another function and it is cool.Somehow on Amazon it is $950 less than everywhere else, but no selection on the bands, etc. Still, $950 in my pocket and I will find the mesh steel band somewhere else (it takes the 20mm; found one at an on-line jeweler in Dallas for $150). Still up $700. The leather band is OK, if it had two less holes it would not fit around my wrist; but I have the mesh one coming. I love it; it is beautiful. Very '50's looking. Comfortable on my wrist. Kind of the understated but refined look. Very rounded.I down loaded a timegraph app on my phone, and placed it by the mic, and it "read" the tics and tells me from the factory it is +5 seconds per day. Might open the back and try for better with the adjusting lever; but common sense says "no". Don't expect much from the documentation, it tells you how to set the time and date (in 14 languages).

I love the design, and it wears well on the wrist.However, there is no aftersales service in the USA. I struggled for months to track down a dealer in the USA who was willing to order me a replacement band. Finally, it was ordered today, and I hope to get the band in the next 2 to 3 months. Good luck if your watch needs any parts when serviced. You might as well throw it away at that point rather than try and order parts from Germany. Really a massive disappointment.Just do not pull the trigger. You are going to regret it.

Clean design and perfect size for my wrist. Strap could be a tad longer, but still 5 stars.
