My First Ver. Ka, and my first disappointment.
This is a model with a fantastic design. This Ver Ka has clearly had a lot of thought put in to it to cram in as much detail as possible alongside a a full-features transformation.High points of the model are that seamlines have been carefully thought about to integrate them in to the design, with lines between armour plates in the arms and legs looking like a natural part of the design, rather than an awkward straight line down the back of the legs like with the Wing EW MG series. It also comes with a large amount of water slide decals, which are my preferred decal as they offer a good balance of neatness (no creases over curves or angles like with stickers) and easy placement (unforgiving like dry-transfers).This means that I imagine when I finally get around to placing them all, the model will look fairly detailed. The use of layered parts also gives an excellent level of detail, so that goes in the V2’s favour. But that’s pretty much where the positives end. Others have mentioned that it’s small but this should be expected: In universe the V2 is one of the smaller Gundam variants at only 15.5m, which puts it around the same height as the Wing Gundams - so at 1/100 scale it stands around 15cm at head height. So discounting its height as a non-issue, there are still a plethora of problems this kit has:1) it has one rifle to hold, 2 beam sabre handles which can be used with beams or a beam fan, and an energy shield. The shield clips on to an arm but the hands cannot hold the rifle or the beam handles. Most swappable MG hands have a peg in the palm that clips the weapon in place but the V2 doesn’t, instead relying on the grip of the thumb. It doesn’t work, and droops out of position after a few hours when gravity does it’s thing.2) the red circles on the elbows, hips and knees look cool, but are all stickers, with the ones in the elbows being particularly hard to align correctly as it’s expected that they wrap around the edges too. I didn’t bother, and instead used a Red Gundam paint marker from the basic colours set. I’m still yet to be bothered to place the stickers around the knees.3) compromises in articulation have been made to facilitate the transformation aspect of the model. It can’t pivot or crunch at the waist, it can point it’s toes as part of the transformation but can’t bend them upwards meaning you can’t pose it on a back-foot, its shoulder joints don’t allow a full sideways reach of the arm meaning it is very difficult to move it’s arms in an outstretched manner. Even on an action base you will be limited in the poses you could place the V2 in - it is by far the least posable MG I have. This is exemplified by the fact the kit only features 7 poly-cap joints in total - the majority of which are only there for transformation as opposed to joints (as a contrast, the HG Kshatriya comes with around 30 poly-cap joints - and it’s a HG!)4) compromises have been made in its stability to facilitate the transformation aspect of the model. It’s very common for parts to just fall off if you handle it. The shoulders are particularly prone to just popping out if you move them as they’re not even poly-cap ball joints, they’re just straight narrow pegs. This is particularly frustrating if you attempt to transform the model in to its constituent fighters as its almost a certainty that something will fall off while you’re doing it.5) as mentioned, there’s very few poly-cap joints, with most of them being ABS pegs, and only the hip joints for the legs being ABS ball joints. This means they’re not very sturdy - and having it in bottom fighter mode where the legs are part of the fighter means they won’t stay level and aligned, and droop after a few minutes.Ultimately, this was my first Ver Ka build ever and all I can say is I’m disappointed. The design for its armour pieces and the level of thought put in to its transformation are exceptional, and putting this next to my MG Deathscythe you would be left with a clear impression that the V2 is the one that is less toylike. Unfortunately, things fall apart, quite literally, when you try to out it in any sort of pose. It’s destined to be a statue, and it’s not even great at that because it can’t even hold its own weapons properly. If you’re in to Master Grades, unless you really like the design of the V2 and don’t mind that the best you will get out of it is just standing there looking moody I would give this one a miss personally. On a positive note, however, (and possibly due to its lack of popularity) you can’t get this any cheaper by importing than it is available on Amazon really - but I’d seriously beg you to consider if £60 for this is worth it: it may be a Ver. Ka but it’s the worst Gunpla model overall I’ve built so far.

Disappointing MG kit
After spending around 6 hours building it, I feel that the details of this kit are exceptional. Each individual part is beautiful; however, they fall apart when assemble together. The arm and hand parts cannot really hold anything (especially the heavy beam fan and beam rifle). The arm joints are also poor. The transformation is also too complicated.
