Can't work, don't work (with the majority of sticks)
As other people have noted this device doesn't seem to work (often not even being recognised) as was the case with the one I received. This *should* contain a small micro-controller which converts the analogue signal from the joysticks to something that can be read by a modern machine over USB (an HID in the lingo).Amazon kindly refunded the cost of this item and said to keep it, so being keen to know what was going on I took a pair of wire cutters to the soft plastic and what I found was horrific. As you can see in the picture (which isn't enhanced) there are just a few wires inside. No ADC, no micro-controller, nothing. What this appears to do it connect the ADC/USB bridge fitted to *very few* older PC joysticks direct to the USB port. That would explain why some users report it working correctly and most people find it DOA. The reason being is the working ones are connecting via a direct connection and the joystick is doing all the work, rather than the device which is a well-made, but ultimately useless, wiring connector. While admittedly cheap, this wasted both time and money and I'm not a happy camper.

does what it says
A simple arrangement that works fine on old legacy joysticks.

Cable did not work
Tried to connect gaming stearing wheel to USB port using this adaptor. Not only did the stearing wheel not work, the PC did not even recognise that a device had been connected. Completely useless.

Doesn't work
Unlike other more expensive converters, this does not have multiple modes that you can select with a switch. So it will either work, or won't.In my case, it didn't. Windows 10 didn't even recognised it as a USB device when plugged in, and did not detect my joystick either.I'm sending it back and will buy a more expensive model with the mode selector.

Good quality, as described
Received as expected, good quality.Ordered as I couldn't find my old converter I used with my old joystick.Unfortunately it didn't work for me as the joystick was not recognised. I don't know if this is a fault with the converter (I don't think it is) or just that Windows 10 no longer supports my joystick (it's been a while since I last used it)Customer service with processing a return/refund was quick.
