easy to use! I have a 16" bar (so small teeth). This sharpener is rated for 8" to 22" bars for a reason - small teeth. Don't get this for a 36" bar. The nice thing about this sharpener is that it will grind the teeth uniformly - both in depth and angle. On the other hand, the adjustments necessary to sharpen the left side vs the right side will make it unwise to assume that the left teeth will end up the same depth as the right teeth. And that is the main reason why you will not cut straight down rather than curving to the left or right, thus binding your saw. In other words, this sharpener does not have the capacity to make sure your left teeth are the same as your right teeth.

I read a few reviews. Some were good and some were bad before i bought this. This worked well for me. I have a Stihl ms251c with a 20 inch bar. Tool about 10 minutes to sharpen it. Just make sure you use the center know to lock the chain. Otherwise it won't work. You will get funny angles if you don't. It took me about 10 minutes to sharpen my saw. Quick and easy. At least in my experience.The cons...Made of aluminum. So I have concerns about the longevity of the tool. But it worked well for a test.

I really wanted to like this product, I really did! The idea is great. A simple tool that allows you to get even consistent sharpening of all the chainsaw teeth. Poor manufacturing- Components do not fit precisely enogh for the product to work as advertised. IT DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED!a. The piece that holds the tooth in place is too loose to get a consistent cut...which is the entire point of the device!That's the main Con. The device has so much give in it that it that it cannot actually hold the teeth to make sure the carbide sharpener actually does what it is supposed to do. This literally had to be readjusted for every chain tooth because it had so much slack. This ended up destroying the teeth on my chainsaw chain. I spent several hours trying to get a consistent cut but the device kept needing constant readjustment just to get it to connect with the tooth to make sure it wouldactually sharpen the blade. I attempted to tighten the basepoints where that part of the device is attached only to find it was flimsy aluminum and it just bent, instead of the set screws holding it in place.Final thought! Great idea, but does not work at all! This device needs to be remanufactured under muchcloser specifications to even have a chance to work as advertised. Shame on the sellers for selling this item!

One side seems to sharpen very well , however the other seems lacking. Looks good and sharpens ok but when you cut it curves the because one side sharpens differently. I’ve sharpened the chain 3 different times with the same result. I’m making great contact with the carbide and I’m seeing metal shavings on both Angles so I’m not sure why I may be doing wrong.

I have several chainsaws and I have several different types of sharpeners. Hands down this is the most awesome sharpener I have ever used. It took just a little bit to get the hang of it but now it is the only one I will use. It came with a convenient carrying bag so its easy to take anywhere without losing any of its parts. Hopefully It is easy to order some more files for it and they are reasonable priced.

This sharpener is simple to use and works much better than the electric one I have. It grinds the teeth all to the same depth without over-sharpening, so they are consistent which makes the chain last longer and creates a better cut. Have purchased one for my uncle as a gift which is great on his large property - it can be used anywhere.

I like the idea of having a jig to be able to sharpen the blade. However, the mount is not as easy to establish as you would hope. The locking mechanism to make the chain stable is very awkward to set. The worst part is trying to set the depth of the file so you know you are getting the sharpest blade possible. It has potential and maybe be something for a more skilled chainsaw user. For now, I will be sticking to a hand held file.
