Beautiful British Engineering! Highly Recommended 👍🏻😁
This was a lovely item to receive. The vendor was in Sheffield and the box it was packed in suggested strongly that this was a British item. The vice oozed quality with well fitting jaws when the vice was closed. They open to 100mm and they are moved by a lever that is the right thickness for the jaws. The acme thread for moving the jaws was nice and deep. The body of the vice was nicely cast and it was lovely to see the Eclipse name on one side and the EMV-3 number on the other side of the body. Both of these alpha-numerics had been cast as an integral part of the body. There were also some production n umbers cast into the body as well.I bought this vice to complement some of the woodwork and metal work which I undertake with a CNC machine. I believe that this vice is easily capable of satisfying my hobbyist needs and it should provide a lifetime of service. If you have heavy engineering needs then it is probable that a larger vice will be needed. I guess that this 4 inch bench vice will suit most hobbyists and DIY projects. I understand that for those who want a base that swivels, there is one available. The holes in the baseplate are large enough to take an M10 bolt and there are two of them used to fix the vice to a bench. I would happily recommend this vice to family and friends. It's is real pleasure to see and handle something which is very well made.

Great Vice at the Price
I got the 8" version of this. The listing doesn't mention its weight, which it should do for the different models. This one is 37.2 Kg (82 lb). Some other dimensions not given are as follows. Actual jaw width: 201mm; jaw gape: 201mm; throat depth: 104mm; handle length: 254mm.Given that you can pay several thousand pounds for a vice this size, I'm impressed with this one. It has been kept simple to keep the price down, but the casting quality looks good, and is strong in the right places. It doesn't swivel, and lacks the anvil and quick-release jaws you might get on a more expensive one, so for intensive use you might consider something else, but for occasional use, this should do fine. The back part of the main casting could be used as an anvil in a pinch, although not really intended for that. For quick release, just spin the handle with one finger. At least when new, it does this smoothly. It only has two bolt holes, where others might have three or four, so you will need something sturdy to bolt it down to.The jaws are held in place with hex bolts which come undone OK, so in theory at least, these are replaceable. When you need a large vice with wide-opening jaws there is no substitute, so for me, this one was well worth the money.
