Works great
I had the alphatrak2 glucose monitor for my cat. When I ran out of test strips I found out they were discontinued. I decided to get this one and I'm so glad I did! With the alphatrak if you didn't get the blood sample in a certain amount of time the monitor would turn off and you couldn't reuse that test stip. This meter stays on as long as the strip is inserted. Once you take the strip out the meter turns off. I love how simple it was to set up and how easy it is to look at previous blood sugars. I love this meter. It's so much easier to use! I highly recommend.

The lancet to collect blood is faulty
The machine is great, but the lancet to collect the blood for the machine is faulty - so because that is faulty you can't use the machine - stressful enough trying to help our cat with her diabetes type 1 to have a faulty product - also no instructions within it for the lancet, we finally figured it out via our own searches it would pierce through paper but when it came to an actual animal or even ourselves to see if it drew blood nothing!!

It's a winner!
Seems accurate. Practically paid for itself last vet visit, as they wanted $20 for BG test, they were okay with my calling in results.Much added peace of mind being able to test at home. And the lancet device is darn close to painless, my cat squirms only when I collect the very tiny sample.Darn worth it!

Overall a good, economical and accurate meter
Meter is quite easy to get on hand for first time users. Checked accuracy by comparing results with my Alphatrak 2, both meters provided very similar readings. Meter results were also very close to what we got from vet clinic results. Overall a good, economical and accurate meter. Would be better if they included bluetooth and designed an app to sync the results like my Alphatrak.

Does not take accurate reading
My puppy is almost 3 months old he’s very tiny weighs about 1 1/2 pounds. He definitely has hyperglycemia because we’ve taken him to vet twice since we had him and just found out he has low blood sugar. I was depending on this machine to work so that we can keep track of his sugar since it’s very important. I was trying to be cheap I guess I should say because after taking him to the vet twice you can only imagine how much the bills were so definitely on a budget! I’m so upset because I’ve poked him so many times different places between the ear and paw and he gets more blood from the paw. Sometimes it won’t even pick up the blood on the strip and won’t do the countdown but I can clearly see the blood on the strip. I just tested his blood and it read 26 mg/dl but puppy is alert, walking around, drinking water, using the bathroom. This is very disappointing that this machine isn’t accurate because my family really depended on it. Please look more into this machine manufacturer!!!!

Short battery life, expensive supplies, seems to work.
The lancet tool doesn't deliver a deep enough cut in our cat's pads, even at the highest setting of 5. I tested it on myself and was able to get a usable sample with a setting of 3 or 4. For the cat, I have to insert the lancets and then withdraw them a millimeter or two to make a deep enough wound to draw blood. Even then, it sometimes takes two or three tries to get a decent sample. It helps to warm the paw to increase blood flow before sampling, but if you use a warm damp cloth, you have to dry the paw to keep the blood drop from spreading into a useless mess. The meter gave a low battery indication before we got through the first container of 25 test strips. We're on our second set of test strips and third battery now. Buy a supply of CR2032 batteries when you order this meter.I am diabetic and have used the human version of this setup. This works the same way and about as well. I have no idea of how accurate it is, but the readings for our cat vary widely. I am reluctant to retest because of the high cost of test strips, but I did once when we got an unexpected reading of 563 mg/dL. The second test within 5 minutes was 555 mg/dL. I recalibrated the meter between tests.

Accurate and economical
I'm really happy with this meter. It's accurate and more affordable than other brands I've tried. The results for my dogs and cats match the results from our regular clinical visits and the test strips and lancets are not overpriced. I also find the 26G lancets to be thicker than the 28G my iPet Pro used. Overall, I highly recommend.
