Excellent - Works a treat, works with a timer socket - Worth every penny
It has been killing big & little flies, a thing that looked like a small wasp, midges, small moths - everything that it has encountered. It seems suitably robust.I cannot hear any noise of it running inbetween zaps. Perhaps young people can hear a slight hum as is mentioned somewhere.I have it hung against the wall in the hallway with the zapping-grid-side outermost [so bugs cannot just fly in through the back & happily sit directly on the blue lamps in safety without going anywhere near the zapping grid].- The steel-coloured zapping grid is on one side only. There are black protective grids on both sides but they are there just to keep out little fingers and play no part in zapping.- Bugs all seem to have a look around the hallway at some stage.- I hang it in a corner that does not get direct sunlight.- I've also tried using it in my study, a room that has lots of sunlight. I found that putting it in a shaded corner allowed it to attract & zap bugs. I did not like the zapping noise [I know it's not particularly loud but it is so sharp a sound that it startles me. If I had dogs then they would say the same.]. That's why I moved it into the hallway.- In the hallway, it is about 5ft up. In the study, it was on the floor. Both positions seem alright. The tray can be removed & emptied and the zapping grid brushed without dismantling anything. The maker says we need to unplug & wait for a minute so the electrostatic charge can dissipate before using the brush.I've added a loop of thread to the brush so I can keep it wrapped around the carrying handle instead of losing it by the end of the week.- I drilled a small hole through the top of the handle but I suppose I could equally well have stuck the thread on it using sticky tape of some kind.- My drill bit was from www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BR3X5386 I chose this set because their 3mm shank fits my power drills as well as my small hand drill [www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0746HWFZJ, there are many equivalents available including www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09B3GQMBD].I am running it from a timer socket 2100-0500.- Once the fly zapper's power button has been pressed 'on', it will stay in the 'on' position despite power being removed & returned periodically by my timer socket.- The zapper should also work properly with one of those remote-controlled 'smart plugs'.- Technology of this kind [hardware on-off switch, LEDs] has no problem with power being removed & returned frequently. {It was just thermionic valves that had severe problems with this; it has never been a general problem.}This was the only mains-powered fly zapper with LEDs / spare tubes under £60 that passed my initial, rapid shortlisting [4 stars, at least 100 reviews with less than 10% of reviews being at 1 star or 2 star levels].- I looked through the initial search results list for fly zappers that either showed two spare tubes in their picture or made it clear that they used LEDs.- I wanted it to be mains-powered because I did not want to spend my life recharging a battery unit every day.- It was on offer at the time for £29.99.- The product page says the LEDs last for 30,000 hours which it then says is 10 years by assuming that it is used for 3,000 hours a year [about 8 hours a day, which is what I have my timer set for]. On that basis, I estimate that is will cost me about 70p a month over its lifetime including its purchase price.Well worth every penny.I do not understand why some users find that it is ineffective.- I can only speculate but I do wonder if the build quality of the LEDs varies so much that it affects the frequency or the intensity of the light emitted and that's the reason for the variability in user experiences. The instructions include the offer to replace a defective unit during the one year warranty period and they provide both a website address & an email address for contacting them. I've had an online chat with them & I found them to be very eager to please.I am experimenting with a tinfoil sheet over the back, non-zapping-grid side to reflect the currently-wasted back lights outwards through the zapping grid.- I think the result is a brighter light.- I think the result is that bugs are only attracted into the zapping grid side rather than also into the safe non-zapping back-side.

Pleasing style
I bought this product because my last fly catcher broke and I was liking the design of this one. It lets out a nice glow in the dark too. Really good at catching all sorts of flying insects. I have had to empty twice already. Was really surprised how effective it is . Definitely good value for money.

amozon delivery sucks
nice looking item, seems to work ok already zapped a few fies in the 1st 5 minutes.pity i found it dumped again on the doorstep, there goes fly 4, amazon needs to do something about this, fancy having a notice where they tell us to search the area, and ask people who it may have been delivered to, no wonder they dont deal in cash, would be bankrupt in seconds if we all dumoed their cash on their doorstep or sent it to their neighbour. never had a single delivery from amazon thats been placed in my hand, even though the delivery person has stated it was delivered in hand or posted through letterbox, eveything i even bought has been dumped on the doorstep, even when i have been sitting less than 3 metres from my front door, i dont think they even bother knocking or ringing the doorbell, 2 more flies zapped, so the product works well pity about the company it was supplied by....AMAZON YOU SUCK

Doesn't kill flies not fit for purpose bulbs not bright enough
Tried this LED zapper rather than the standard tube zappers which we buy annually. However it's been sitting on the bench for 4 days and caught 4 flies. The bulbs are simply not bright enough, the idea of LED may appeal to ppl for various reasons but useless for this purpose.Yes we have to either replace tubes or units themselves fairly regularly on the standard units as we live in the country with lots of animals, so always flies are always around HOWEVER at least they DO work. The tubes are far brighter so flies attracted to them.Waste of money don't bother buying if you have insect issues regularly, the may look nice but that's about it. I think these are made for the up and coming young families who like to see nice things around them rather than practical.Returned.

Good purchase
This has work well and has certainly killed numerous flies especially during the summer months. Does make quite a zapping noise when fly lands on the light but soon got used to it.

Works well
Following the instructions we leave it on at night, the blue light attracts the flies. This has virtually cured the fly problem in our outdoor office. It also zaps flies during the day, but the crack sound was worrying the dogs, so just leave it on at night. It works really well, not messy, easy to set up and no chemicals

Not sure actually attracts insects
Had this product all summer long during 2024 and I am not convinced that it actually attracts any insects. Whilst I heard it 'zap' a few flies / bugs, possibly by pure luck, I ended up often using a hand-held fly swatter against the critters within inches of the zapper. I ended up buying another chemical fly catcher - which caught hundreds of flies and was much more effective. Probably not worth the money.

The best on the market, saved energy by a mile !!!
I remember buying the old stuff with tubes ! This is the one to get ! Enjoy it while it last , newer version and type of LED ! Bringing joy to get the Inside rid of flies and other bugs ! What a shame that they didn’t have them invented years ago, LED is an old 🎩 but still very useful Light when you need it !Recommend the Product! Only to invest in a long lasting LED solution ( if you’re clever enough and remember that you don’t save the planet, okay )
