I bought this item to help with some home improvements. And wow, what a brilliant bit of kit this is. I can see me using this a lot with all the jobs I’ve got lined up.Starting with what is in the box, Topdon provide a 16Gb card with the camera. A nice little extra, as often you buy something and on delivery it’s not included. Then you have to purchase a memory card and have to wait to have it delivered before you can use your item. Other contents in the box includes a Charger, usb cable, carry case and instruction manual. It comes with a torch built in too, so you can even use this when it’s dark, which is another bonus.When you first unpack the camera and switch it on, you have to allow it to calibrate itself, then you have to set up a couple of things such as the language, date and time. Insert the memory card and you are away. Once again well done to Topdon for making everything so easy and straight forward. Also the battery is already fully charged and ready to go. No need to wait 2 hours whilst it charges for the first time.Whilst testing the thermal imaging camera in my house. I noticed a cold spot around the front door that I hadn't seen before, and wouldn’t have know about it. Further inspection identified a problem with the sealing that was causing a cold spot. It's fixed now, so draught eliminated.Video and images can be saved to the supplied 16Gb SD card and these can be analysed with the free software provided by Topdon (via download). Software is reasonably easy to figure out and even shows a distribution of the temperatures measured across the whole picture.Overall very pleased with the camera so far. Can see loads of uses that simply weren't possible before. From checking the performance of my radiators,doors,windows and even walls, the list is endless. and see how efficiently my house is holding heat, or not as the case may be. It’s so user friendly and I would definitely recommend it.

The media could not be loaded. I have always wanted to get a thermal imaging camera as there are many uses for products likethese, especially for a DIY enthusiast like myself. However, thermal imaging cameras have alwaysbeen way beyond my price range. I’m glad that prices have dropped and are now more affordable.The versatility of the camera means that it can be used for many applications whether you’re ahomeowner, car enthusiast, DIYer or electrician to name a few.I bought the Topdon TC004 Lite recently and have been very impressed by it so far. It is a great toolto use to find problem areas in the home such as determining where there is heat loss. I have alsoused it in my camper van to find where the heat is leaking so that the insulation can be rectified.The device can also used to indicate excessive heat in electrical parts which could lead to a fault.The device itself is well-made and is similar to professional handheld imaging devices that I’ve usedat my workplace.You can toggle between different colour chart bars and the display also has a centre crosshairtemperature reading and a dynamic hotspot reading. You can save images via the internal storage(500 MB) and they can be played on the device as well as connected via the charging port to yourcomputer for downloading. The images are 240x320. The resolution of the thermal sensor is240X180. The device comes with a handy pouch to protect the thermal imager for transport.Pressing the centre button accesses the menu which allows you to change settings.This is the lite version of the TC004 which means that there are features that are not included suchas video capture, PC connectivity, and LED light. While these features can enhance the device, Iparticularly don’t require these features as the main function of a thermal imaging camera issufficient.There are also other added features such as a tripod screw mount for stationary placement althoughI have not used this feature as it works quite nicely handheld.

works great, got this to find cold spots in house and was easy to use and then see if cold spot had been sorted

I couldn't find any way to copy the photos from the device (I'm on a Mac). Except for that, the unit seems very robust, responsive and very easy to use. I was able to instantly take a photo. The temperature reading was updating very quickly.

Used to balance new heating system and then to see where new loft insulation was required more so in the colder spots identified by using this product. Overall, excellent for my requirements and relatively easy to use

This TC004 is a great piece of kit when used in multiple applications. The first reason for buying was to survey my house and determine what areas needed insulating, this device makes it easy to do and the built-in SD card allows for images to be saved for comparison later.There is a plethora of options I have yet to explore but I am seriously impressed given the lack of reviews elsewhere of this.Another area I have used it is on cars, it's been really helpful in identifying even braking performance without the need for a rolling road on my track car, it helped me find a stuck brake caliper far easier than if I had relied on touch / feel etc.I'd honestly recommend the TC004 to anyone looking at the cheaper models of these as this tool has capability far beyond it's price tag.
